Summary

1996-03-18: HS76 SPIRIT C-GIMJ MEDEVAC WAS ENROUTE WHEN THE MAIN ROTOR TRANSMISSION CHIP LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE A/C RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT AND CARRIED OUT AN UNEVENTFUL TOUCHDOWN. MAINTENANCE REPORTED LARGE METAL PIECES WERE FOUND IN THE SYSTEM. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REMOVED FOR OVERHAUL. THE TRANSMISSION HAD OPERATED THROUGH ONE THIRD OF ITS OVERHAUL LIFE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. FROM A TSB INITIAL NOTIFICATION. TIME = 0515Z. ACTION = PAX PAH PAE.
