Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

Summary

1993-04-26: The Ontario Express Limited (d/b/a Canadian Regional Airlines - Eastern Division) ATR-42-300 turbopropeller aircraft (C-FQCP) was preparing to depart on a scheduled IFR flight from Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ) to Timmins Airport (CYTS). The Captain at the controls was undergoing Line Indoctrination with the Company Check Pilot in the right seat. The aircraft began to taxi near another aircraft parked on the ramp. When the brakes were applied, they failed to function properly (as the aircraft was not stopping). The engine condition levers were moved to the required high idle position while the pilot was applying maximum braking effort. This caused the aircraft to stop abruptly, throwing the Flight Attendants forward. The flight was completed to the day's final destination (Timmins) where it was determined that the Flight Attendants had been injured and could not perform their duties the next day. TIME - 2315Z. ACTION - PAX PAP PAE TSB IKO-PIA.
