2008-12-17: UPDATE Supplemental information received from T.S.B. Final Report (Synopsis): The aircraft departed Chicago (O'Hare) International Airport, IL (U.S.A.) (KORD), on a regularly scheduled flight to Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ). On landing, the aircraft touched down in a nose-high attitude and the tail and main landing gear struck the runway simultaneously. The aircraft sustained minor structural damage and four (4) Flight Attendants were taken to the hospital for examination and released. One (1) Flight Attendant required back surgery after returning to the United States. The Board determined that the aircraft flight spoilers were extended during the initial approach and inadvertently remained extended during the approach and landing. The loss of lift caused by the extended spoilers resulted in a nose-high attitude and high sink rate at touchdown.
