Summary

1998-01-06: UNUSUAL EVENT - A HEAVY THUNDERSTORM OCCURRED AT NORTH BATTLEFORD AIRPORT. PEAK WINDS WAS RECORDED AT 76 KTS. PRECIPITATION WAS 3MM & THERE WAS NO HAIL. A POWER FAILURE AFFECTED THE ENTIRE AIRPORT FROM 0622Z TO 1224Z. NUMEROUS TREES WERE DOWNED & WERE THE CAUSE OF THE POWER FAILURE. CITY OF NORTH BATTLEFORD HANGAR DOORS BROKE LOOSE AT THE BASE & DAMAGED THE WING OF AN AIRCRAFT PARKED INSIDE. ANOTHER AIRCRAFT INSIDE THE SAME HANGAR WAS MOVED BY THE WIND & MADE CONTACT WITH AN AIRCRAFT, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO ANY AIRPORT BUILDINGS. TIME - 0610Z. ACTION - NIL.
