Summary

1998-01-06: HS748 C-FMAK CAV - CREW OF CALM AIR (CAV 1582), A HAWER SIDDELEY 748, SHUT DOWN THE RIGHT ENGINE BECAUSE OF AN ENGINE FIRE INDICATION. A/C WHICH WAS ENROUTE RANKIN INLET FROM REPULSE BAY LANDED AT RANKIN WHERE ONE LEFT MAIN TIRE BLEW OUT. A/C WAS TAXIED CLEAR OF RWY TO RAMP AREA. HAMLET FIRE DEPT., AMBULANCE & RCMP WERE ON STANDBY AT THE AIRPORT FOR THE A/C ARRIVAL. NO INJURIES. NO DAMAGE. COMPANY MAINTENANCE REPORTED THAT THE FIRE INDICATION WAS FALSE & THAT THE TIRE BLOWOUT WAS CAUSED BY AN ANTI-SKID COMPONENT FAILURE. TIME - 1915Z. ACTION - NIL.
