1996-09-06: THERE WAS PARTIAL POWER FAILURE WHEN SOMEONE IN ADJACENT SUBDIVISION CUT DOWN A TREE AND IT FELL ACROSS POWER LINES FEEDING A/P. POWER BLEW SOME MAIN FUSED CAUSING ELECTRICAL OUTAGES INVARIOUS PARTS OF A/P. SUBSEQUENT FAILURE CAUSED FREQUENCY OUTAGES TO FOTH FSS AND ACC(PALS), OPERATION AND MONITORING NAVAIDS WAS INTERRUPTED FOR UP TO 9 HRS. AS AT DEC 8, TACAN WAS STILL UNSERVICEABLE. PHOME SUSTEM IN FSS WAS INOPERATABLE FOR ABOUT 6 HRS. POWER SURGE CAUSED A FAILURE OF MF 122.0 REQUIRING USE OF NICAN TO COMMUNICATE TO THAT FREQ. ULTIMATE IMPACT FOR FSS WAS ONE OF INCONVENIENCE. HOWEVER, TSB AND A/PZ BOTH HAVE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE DUE TO POWER DURGE. TIME = 1327Z. ACTION = MAE.
