Summary

1996-01-18: CC130 130337 - A/C 337 WAS #1 ON AN IFR APPROACH FOR TACAN RWY 27 & IN CONTACT WITH FREDERICTON TOWER APPROX. 3NM EAST OF THE VORTAC IN DESCENT TO 800'ASL WHEN AIR ATLANTIC 411 DESCENDED TO WITHIN APPROX. 500' & 1/4 MILE OF A/C. CC130 CREW WARNED AIR ATLANTIC WHICH HAD NOT SEEN THE CC130 & THE AIR ATLANTIC A/C BROKE AWAY FOR ALEFT DOWNWIND TO LAND ON RWY 15. AIR ATLANTIC HAD BEEN ON THE SAME RADIAL INBOUND BUT FURTHER BACK WHEN IT CANCELLED IFR TO CONDUCT A VISUAL APPROACH. WHEN AIR ATLANTIC GAVE ITS POSITION TO TOWER THE CREW LOOKED UP & SAW THE AIR ATLANTIC A/C THROUGH THE OVERHEATED WINDOW. WEATHER WAS CLEAR. TIME - 102110Z
