Summary

1996-01-23: B747 EVERGREEN EIA4132 N482EV - A/C ADVISED GANDER ACC THAT THEY HAD AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE A/C WAS AT FL370. THEY REQUESTED DESCENT TO FL330. GANDER WAS UNABLE DUE TO TRAFFIC IN AREA. A/C THEN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND FOLLOWED CONTINGINCY PLAN AND DESCENDED TO FL270. AT THAT ALTITUDE, GANDER ACC WAS ABLE TO GIVE THE A/C A CLEARANCE DIRECT TO GANDER. THE A/C LANDED SAFELY AT 1555Z. CFR IN POSITION. POTENTIAL CONFLICT WITH 5 OTHER A/C DURING EMERGENCY DESCENT. TIME = 1445Z. ACTION = MAB.
