A WestJet Boeing 737 700 (WJA611) from Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier Intl, ON (CYOW) to Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) requested a medical emergency diversion to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ). WestJet Airlines dispatch confirmed that the company was making arrangements for emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to meet the flight. WJA611 was given priority. No operational impact.

Incident at LIBUX intersection

A WestJet Boeing 737-700 (WJA611) from Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier, ON (CYOW) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) was cleared for area navigation (RNAV) Y 35R approach. The aircraft joined at LIBUX, flew over NAPNI but did not follow the arc to AGNIK. The aircraft was vectored to final for Runway 35R and landed safely. No impact to operations.

PCO3041 did not hold short of taxiway J. A WestJet Boeing 737-700 (WJA611) from Ottawa/Macdonald?Cartier International, ON (CYOW) to Calgary International, AB (CYYC) taxiing to Apron 1 via Taxiways J, C, and K had to stop on Taxiway J short of G for PCO3041. No operational impact.

Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

A WestJet Boeing 737-700 (WJA611) from Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International, ON (CYOW) to Calgary International, AB (CYYC), after landing on Runway 35R, was given instructions to taxi J-C-K. An Air Canada Airbus A319 (ACA204) from Vancouver International, BC (CYVR) to Calgary International, AB (CYYC) that was exiting Runway 35L was given instruction to taxi C4-J and hold short of Taxiway G. WJA611 and ACA204 conflicted at the J/H taxiway intersection. WJA611 then proceeded to taxi on Taxiway H.

A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GENM) on a local flight from Calgary, AB (CYYC) taxiing to the main apron was instructed by ground to hold short of Taxiway K on Taxiway C, instruction readback. C-GENM then proceeded onto Taxiway K without clearance cutting off a WestJet Boeing 737 700 (WJA611) from Ottawa, ON (CYOW) to Calgary, AB (CYYC).

Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

A Westjet Boeing 737 (WJA611) from CYYZ to CYYC, experienced a guest related incident. A passenger would not turn off their phone after push back and would not follow flight attendant directions. The aircraft returned to the gate in CYYZ to offload the passenger. Local authorities met the passenger at the gate to have a discussion. The aircraft was delayed by 21 minutes due to this incident.

The Air France Boeing 777-300 series aircraft (operating as flight AFR356) was concluding a scheduled IFR flight from Paris (Charles de Gaulle) International Airport, Roissy (France) (LFPG) to Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ). NAV CANADA staff at Toronto Tower reported that the WJA611 flight crew conducted a rejected take-off from runway 05 due to a faulty light indication. Ops. impact -- one (1) arriving aircraft (AFR356) was instructed to overshoot.

The Korean Air Lines Co. Ltd. Boeing 777-200 series aircraft was departing on a scheduled IFR flight from Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ) to Seoul (Incheon) International Airport, Incheon (South Korea) (RKSI). NAV CANADA staff at Toronto Tower reported that the WJA611 flight crew was instructed to fly their aircraft in an overshoot of its approach to runway 05 by the Tower Controller due to KAL074 being slow to roll. Ops. impact -- unknown.

Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ) (Overshoot/missed approach)

The Air Canada Airbus A330 300 aircraft (operating as ACA142) was on a scheduled IFR flight from Vancouver (CYVR) to Toronto (CYYZ). The Westjet Boeing 737 700 aircraft (operating as WJA611) was on a scheduled IFR flight from Toronto to Calgary (CYYC). The Hainan Airlines Company Limited (CN) Airbus A340 600 aircraft (operating as CHH7975) was on a scheduled IFR flight from Beijing (CN) (ZBAA) to Toronto. While on approach for runway 05, the flight crew of ACA142 were instructed to carry out a go-around. This was due to WJA611 still being in position on the threshold of runway 05 awaiting take-off clearance. The clearance for WJA611 was delayed because CHH7975 had just landed and were unclear about their exit point so they stopped on the runway to clarify where they were to exit.

Boeing 737-800 aircraft (operating as flight WJA611) was departing on a scheduled IFR flight from Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ) to Calgary International Airport (CYYC). NAV CANADA staff at Toronto Tower advised that AAL1252 was instructed to overshoot their approach to runway 05 due to WJA611 still on the departure roll. Ops. impact -- none.

Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC) (Conflict - loss of separation, Alleged Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) infraction)

ACA218 A319 112 failed to comply with an ATC instruction when it turned left rather than right. This resulted in a loss of separation with WJA611 B737 700. Separation eroded to 1.9 Nautical miles and approximately 700 feet in an area where 3 miles or 1000 feet spacing area required.

WestJet Flight 611 B737 enroute Toronto to Calgary experienced a guest related incident. A male individual in his 20's, had consumed several drinks while in-flight and had been swearing at the flight attendants. The crew has requested that police be arranged to meet the aircraft upon arrival into Calgary. Operations contacted local police.
