Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

USA2, Airbus 330-300, enroute from Philadelphia (KPHL) to Rome (LIRF), advised of a medical emergency, a 65 year-old male with heart problems. The pilot requested to divert to Gander (CYQX) but, due to poor weather conditions, the pilot diverted to St. John?s (CYYT) and landed at 02:06Z. There was a doctor on board and an ambulance met the flight on arrival. Nil TSB.

Incident at Gander domestic airspace, 30 miles SW of RONPO

USA2,A-330, from Philadelphia to Rome, at FL 370 reported to Gander ACC that the aircraft had encountered a strong updraft and had deviated from it's assigned altitude approximately 1500' before the crew returned the A/C to the assigned altitude. Nil traffic in the vicinity. Subsequent radar investigation showed the aircraft had climbed from F370 to F390 in less than 25 seconds. Nil TSB

Incident at 130NM southwest of Yarmouth

US Air Flight-2 an Airbus A330 was 50 Miles west of KANNI (82 NM southwest of Yarmouth) en route from Philadelphia to Roma/Fiumicino. The aircraft reported a problem with the Bleed Air and returned to the point of Departure. No assistance was required.

USA2 B767 lost both FMCs and flight director, requested and given clearance for turnaround to Boston (maybe KPHL) Shortly after turnaround regained use of the computers but was reluctant to cross the ocean. ETA Boston 0334z TSB case Closed TSB file # A00A0085. Reason for failure is not known.
