SPR903, DHC 8 102, enroute from St. John?s (CYYT) to Deer Lake (CYDF), on approach to Runway 10, experienced an indicator warning light and decided to overshoot Runway 10 and was re-cleared for Runway 28 at 21:28Z. SPR903 then missed the approach to Runway 28 and was re-cleared to Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon (CYBX) at 21:43Z. Nil TSB.

Incident at GOOSE BAY NL (CYYR)

UPDATE Maintenance & Manufacturing: Maintenance inspection and runs were completed on the aircraft. No faults were found and all parameters and propeller and power response was normal in all modes of operation including reverse. All linkages were given an additional inspection and lubrication with a further inspection completed in St. John's. The aircraft has been released as serviceable.
SPR903, Swearingen SA227AC, enroute from St. John?s (CYYT) to Goose Bay (CYYR), upon landing on Runway 08, started skidding northward toward the edge of the runway, west of Taxiway Charlie. The aircraft did not skid off the runway. The pilot contacted the tower indicating that everything was ok. Passengers and crew deplaned and were bused to the terminal. When the pilot had set the reverse thrust upon landing, only one engine produced reverse thrust.

SPR903 SW4 received an airport advisory at 2125z, when taxiing to postion on runway 28, the pilot advised returning to the ramp due to a problem with one of the aircraft gauges. At 2132Z the aircraft received a second airport advisory and departed without further problem. Nil TSB

The Provincial Airlines Saab 340 was inbound to CYAY and attempted contact with AY FSS on VHF 122.3. There was no contact and the AY FSS was advised by Provincial Airlines of the communications problem. FSS then established contact with the flight on their portable radio. It was determined that the receiver for 122.3 was unservicable. The technicians were advised. Nil TSB

Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

SPR903 SW4 departed St. John's at 1036z. At approx. 1040z the flight advised of a right engine overheat indication. Crew monitoring situation and elected to continue to St. Anthony . No assistance required. SPR903 arrived St. Anthony at 1140z. TSB Case Closed.
TSB Update May 18, 2001. A01A0051: SPR903, a Metroliner, had just departed St. John's for St. Anthony when the flight crew reported that they had a right wing overheat warning light illumination. The flight crew then advised that they were continuing to St. Anthony and that they did not require any assistance; the aircraft landed safely at St. Anthony at 0910 NDT without further incident. It was reported that shortly after shutting off the right bleed air switch, the wing overheat light extinguished. The flight continued with the right bleed air deactivated in accordance with the aircraft MEL. The aircraft continued the flight schedule for the day; however, the aircraft has not returned to St. John's due to weather. Maintenance personnel will inspect the aircraft when it returns to St. John's.

Incident at DEER LAKE NL (CYDF)

Complaint/Airmanship The Provincial Airlines Metroliner was on a flight from Blanc-Sablon to Deer Lake. (C-FITW, SPR903) The Air Labrador Dash 8 was to depart Deer Lake for St. John's. (C-GAAN, LAL1470) SPR970 was cleared to the Deer Lake airport, straight in ILS RWY25. LAL1470 departed VFR on RWY07 from the taxiway intersection at 1724z expecting to receive IFR clearance while airborne. SPR903 reported 5nm North West of the Junction Beacon at that time. Right after LAL1470 was airborne SPR903 reported at the Junction Beacon. At 400 AGL LAL 1470 initiated a right turn to proceed on course. Shortly thereafter LAL1470 reported having SPR903 visual at 9 to 10 o'clock position and a distance of 1.5nm. The crew of SPR903 called in this complaint to Gander ACC. TSB no involvement.

Incident at ST. ANTHONY AIRPORT (ATS operating irregularity)

SPR902 was cleared St.Anthony to St.John's at 7000ft. SPR903 was inbound to St.Anthony from St.John's at 14000ft. and cleared to 8000ft. At 60nm. South of the airport SPR902 was observed climbing through 9800ft. while SPR 903 was decending through 12400ft. at a spacing of seven to eight miles. Due to the time factor and the fact SPR902 was not on frequency, Gander ACC was not able to resolve conflict. The traffic passed with 2 miles lateral separation and 200ft. vertical. TSB closed.
