Incident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)

PAC617, a B-747 had landed on runway 04 at Gander and was rolling out when the tower controller noticed that the aircraft seemed to be travelling very fast. He also noticed what appeared to be black smoke and fire coming from the number 1 engine. The aircraft stopped at the very end of the runway and advised that no assistance was required. The operator and maintenance personnel in Gander will advise the TSB of their findings.

PAC617 B747 landing runway 04 at Gander when tower reported aircraft was very "Hot" (fast) on Roll out and went through the intersection of Runway 31 still moving fast with black smoke and fire coming from a port engine. The crash alarm was activated and ERS responded. The aircraft managed to stop at the very end of the runway and advised that no assistance was required. TSB evaluating
