A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-301 (JZA8866) on a flight from Windsor, ON (CYQG) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) was level at 8000ft. JZA8866 initiated descent without a clearance. The controller instructed the aircraft to maintain 8000ft. No operational impact.

Traffic below, an Air Canada Embraer ERJ 190-100 IGW (ACA507) from Toronto/ Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Chicago, IL (KORD) was climbing to 7000ft. Traffic was passed and JZA8866 had visual contact with other aircraft. No operational impact.

At 1525Z, a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-102 (JZA8866) from Windsor, ON (CYQG) to Toronto / Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) was instructed by Tower to overshoot Runway 23 due to a report of foreign object debris (FOD) on the Runway. FOD was retrieved and the Runway returned to service at 1538Z.

Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown, Aerodrome - operations)

The (Air Canada) Jazz Air Limited Partnership Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (RJ100) Regional Jet aircraft (operating as JZA8866) was departing on a scheduled IFR flight from Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ) to Charlottetown Airport (CYYG). The flight crew reported that a bird strike occurred on rotation during the departure off of runway 24R. The runway was closed for an inspection and several aircraft were diverted to runway 24L. NAV CANADA did not report whether or not anything was found during the runway inspection. Ops. impact -- minor.

Incident at 40 NM à l'est de Dorval (CYUL)

Update #1: The TSB investigation class and number have been added. The date and time of the occurrence have been changed. Soon after takeoff from Dorval for Saint John (NB), the crew realized that the power in the #1 engine (P&W 120) was fluctuating. The crew asked to return to Dorval and landed without incident. The maintenance team changed the HMU, made the appropriate adjustments, and conducted a ground test, which yielded a satisfactory result. The aircraft was put back in service.
Air Canada Jazz Dash 8 JZA8866 was IFR between Dorval (CYUL) and Saint John (CYSJ). About 40 NM east of Dorval the pilot had to turn around because of an engine problem. The aircraft touched down without incident.
