From Aerodrome Safety: No further action required. The Vancouver Int'l Airport has a wildlife program in place meeting the regulatory requirement of CAR 302.
A Jazz Aviation Canadair CL600-2B19 (RJ) (JZA8442) on a flight from CYXY to CYVR reported a probable bird strike while landing on runway 26R. Nothing was found. No impact to operations.

Incident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY)

A Jazz Aviation Bombardier CL600 (C-GJZZ/ operating as JZA8442) on a IFR flight departed YXY for YVR at 1430Z. At 1435Z, ZEG ACC called to inform YXY FSS that JZA8442 had a mechanical issue and was returning. At 1436Z JZA8442 established contact with YXY FSS, emergency assistance was offered but declined by JZA8442. JZA8442 landed without incident at 1443Z. Operational impact was nil.

Incident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY)

UPDATE Updated info: Temperature warmed up. Maintenance completed ground runs at high power settings with APU on & off. ECS pack colessor filter bags removed and replaced. Could not duplicate fault. Lav smoke detector and associated smells did not re-occur. Aircraft returned to service. Additional info : 3-Feb-2008 during ground operations at start of first flight crew reported smoke smell in air when ground running APU. Maintenance carried out APU compressor borescope, no anomalies found. Both engines inspected for oil leaks none found. Both ACM supply and exit ducts checked OK. Overhead ceiling light ballast found smelly, ballast replaced and aircraft returned to service. No further re-occurrence of smoke smelling cabin air.
Shortly after departure (runway 13R) the flight crew declared an emergency due to a smoke warning signal. The flight landed safely at 2122Z, there was no operational impact.
UPDATE A08W0024: The Air Canada Jazz Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (CRJ200) was operating as JZA8442 from Whitehorse, YT to Vancouver, BC. During departure the flight crew noticed a slight smoke smell on the flight deck. Passengers could also smell smoke in the cabin. A short time later the lavatory smoke detector activated; however, there were no visible signs of smoke. The flight crew declared an emergency and returned to Whitehorse where the flight landed without further incident. A rapid deplanement was conducted on the ramp.
UPDATE On going - Maintenance awaiting temperature to rise above -42deg, due to operating restrictions on engine/ APU.
