A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-301 (C-GTAT/JZA8257) from Vancouver International, BC (CYVR) to Nanaimo, BC (CYCD) reported a possible bird strike on arrival. The runway inspection found no remains. No operational impact.

Incident at NANAIMO AIRPORT

A Jazz de Havilland DHC 8 300 (JZA8257) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Nanaimo, BC (CYCD) advised that it might have hit a bird on its approach to Runway 16. A runway check was done, and no bird remains were found. A visual inspection of the aircraft was done on its arrival, and no damage was found.

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-311 (C-GABP / JZA8257) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Nanaimo, BC (CYCD) reported that the aircraft had struck a seagull on 1/2 mile final Runway 16 at CYCD. The impact was just below the windshield. No damage to aircraft. No operational impact.

Incident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR)

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-311 (C-FACT / JZA8258) from Nanaimo, BC (CYCD) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR), IFR, on approach to Runway 08R was instructed to execute missed approach. Jazz (JZA8257) on departure, was in position on the runway waiting for preceding arrival, Helijet International (JBA851), to clear the runway. A number of subsequent departures were delayed behind JZA8257.

Incident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR)

A Jazz de Havilland DHC 8 301 (C-GTAT/ JZA8257) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) called Ground South to taxi and when the aircraft taxied, the strip for a Jazz de Havilland DHC 8 300 (JZA8057) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Victoria, BC (CYYJ) was sent to Tower South. Tower South cleared JZA8057 for take-off and JZA8257 read back the clearance and departed. The aircraft type and standard instrument departure (SID) were the same for both aircraft and Departure identified the issue shortly after talking to the aircraft.
UPDATE: JZA8257 was enroute to Nanaimo (CYCD) not Calgary (CYYC)

Incident at NANAIMO AIRPORT

A Jazz Aviation de Havilland DHC8-400 (JZA8257), from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Nanaimo, BC (CYCD), executed a missed approach while on approach Runway 16 at CYCD. The aircraft failed to follow the missed approach path and subsequently requested radar vectors. JZA8257 returned to CYVR after attempting a second approach. No operational impact.

Incident at NANAIMO AIRPORT (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)

A Jazz Aviation de Havilland DHC 8 300 (JZA8257) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Nanaimo, BC (CYCD) was issued a hold at CYCD due to an emergency at CYCD. Once the emergency was resolved at 1546Z, JZA8257 was given descent to 4000 feet in an area where 4600 feet is required. No operational impact.

Incident at NANAIMO AIRPORT (Ground handling services, Aerodrome - other)

While parked on the main ramp, fire was observed coming from a truck (DEICE300). 911 was contacted. As a result, Jazz Aviation (JZA8257) was delayed for approximately 1 minutes while taxiing to the ramp.

UPDATE from Aerodrome Safety: No further action required. The Vancouver Airport has a wildlife program in place meeting the regulatory requirement of CAR 302.
Air Canada Jazz Dehavilland DH8C flight JZA8257, IFR Vancouver to Princeton reported a bird strike on departure. On inspection nothing was found. 5 aircraft were delayed on departure for up to 9 minutes.

Incident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR) (TCAS alert)

Jazz flight JZA8257, a DeHavilland Dash 8, had just leveled at 4000' enroute from Vancouver (CYVR) to Nanaimo (CYCD)when the pilot advised they were descending due to an RA because TCAS indicated traffic to be 400' above. Radar review indicates JZA8257 decended 100' and then leveled again at 4000'. The only traffic in the immediate vicinity was S76 below JZA8257 climbing VFR. The S76 was at 2900' when JZA8257 passed overhead.
Update from the TSB: The Air Canada Regional (Jazz) DHC-8-100 aircraft, registration C-GJMI, operating as JZA8257, took off from Vancouver for Nanaimo. When levelling off at 4,000 feet at the YVR VOR, the crew received a TCAS RA to descend, the target showing 400 feet above. The crew descended 100 feet before the RA ceased. The only traffic was a Helijet S76 helicopter climbing VFR through 2900 feet, enroute from Vancouver to Victoria Harbour.
Update from ANS&A: No further action required.

Incident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

Jazz flight JZA8257, a DeHavilland Dash 8 (DHC8), returned to Vancouver International Airport (CYVR) shortly after takeoff due to a hydraulic problem. The pilot declared an emergency and ERS responded. They landed safely on Runway 08R. Runway was closed for inspection for 5 minutes. No operational impact.

Incident at NANAIMO AIRPORT

Update from PNR: Air Canada Jazz flight JZA8257 returned to YVR due loss of #1 hydraulic system indication only. No other warning/caution lights or loss system functionality. Aircraft was already operating under MEL 29-2 for #1 SPU pressure indication u/s. Maintenance replaced the #1 main hydraulic pressure transmitter and repaired broken wire at 2932-P3, and chafed wire repaired near 9811-P11. Aircraft ground run and both main & standby indications serviceable. No SDR as normally main pressure indication an MEL item.
The Jazz, Flt JZA8257, a Dash-8, broke off the approach due to 'indicator' problem. The aircraft returned to Vancouver where it was determined #1 hydraulic system was showing zero pressure. No emergency declared and no operational immpact.
