Incident at 11NM NE TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

Whilst being vectored for the approach for Runway 23, an Air Georgian Limited Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (Series 100) (C-GKFR/GGN7338) from Columbus, OH (KCMH) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) was cleared to descend to 4000ft. The aircraft was observed to descend below the cleared level, controller confirmed cleared level of 4000ft, to which the pilot responded "correcting". Whilst correcting, GGN7338 was observed to reach an altitude of 4500ft. GGN7338 was taken off the heading and re-sequenced for the approach. During the re-sequencing GGN7338 was issued a speed of 190 knots. The aircraft subsequently reported at 170 knots.

Incident at Columbus

TSB #A19F0163: C-GKEP, a Bombardier CL-600-2B19 CRJ100 aircraft operated by Air Georgian, was conducting flight GGN7338 from Columbus/John Glenn Columbus Intl (KCMH), OH to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl (CYYZ), ON with 3 crew members and 25 passengers on board. Shortly after the departure from KCMH, the flight crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet, and requested a return to the airport due to a landing gear disagree. A PAN PAN was declared, and the aircraft landed without further incident. Since the nose wheel steering was inoperative, the aircraft was towed to the gate.

Incident at 59NM TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

UPDATE TSB Report #A18O0017: C-GXJA, the Air Georgian CRJ 200 aircraft operating as flight GGN7338 was on approach to Lester B. Pearson Intl - Toronto (CYYZ) from Port Columbus - Columbus (KCMH) when the crew received GEN 1 OFF and IDG 1 DISC messages. QRH procedures were followed and a reset attempt failed to re-connect the generator. The APU generator was on MEL and was not available. A PanPan was declared and the aircraft landed uneventfully with ARFF standing by. Maintenance replaced the #1 IDG and the starter motor for the APU. Additional troubleshooting and parts replacement were required before the APU became serviceable. A successful operational test of both components was completed and the aircraft was returned to service.
An Air Georgian Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (C-GXJA/GGN7338) on a flight from Columbus, OH (KCMH) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) declared an emergency due to number 1 generator failure. Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) was dispatched. The aircraft landed Runway 23 at 1150Z without incident. Minimal impact to operations.

An Air Georgian Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (GGN7338) from Columbus, OH (KCMH) to Toronto, ON (CYYZ) was instructed to overshoot Runway 33L. The previous arrival, a Jazz Aviation de Havilland DHC-8-400 (JZA8931) from Moncton, NB (CYQM) to Toronto, ON (CYYZ) was still on runway. GGN7338 landed at 1228Z without incident. No operational impact.

Incident at CHARLOTTETOWN AIRPORT

Update: Follow-up information received from Flight Operations ? West [2014-07-04]: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. The CASI contacted the operator and was informed that they were managing this occurrence through their safety management system (SMS) process. The flight crew reported that right after departure from runway 03 on the Charlottetown 2 departure, the aircraft?s radar started painting a large thunderstorm with significant rainfall directly ahead. The Captain decided that a turn was required to ensure the safety of the aircraft. Following the turn, the controller was advised of the reason for it. The CASI was satisfied with the information provided and advised that no further Transport Canada follow-up was required at this time.
An Air Georgian Canadair CL-600-2B19 (C-FWJI/ GGN7338) from Charlottetown, PE (CYYG) to Toronto, ON (CYYZ) received and read back a clearance for the CYYG2 departure Runway 03. The aircraft was observed on radar commencing a turn off the standard instrument departure (SID) heading with out clearance. No other aircraft in the area and no impact on the operation.

Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ) (ATM - inaccurate aeronautical information)

At 1403Z, an Air Georgian Beech 1900 (GGN7338) from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) to Halifax, NS (CYHZ) (on final runway 23) called Ground to advise unable to contact Tower on 118.4. Tower selected backups, Ground advised GGN7338 to try again and communication was established. GGN7338 landed without incident. No other impact.

Controller initiated an overshoot for runway 05 for an Air Georgian Beech 1900D (C-GORZ/ GGN7338) from Saint John, NB (CYSJ) to Halifax, NS (CYHZ) due to a vehicle on runway. The aircraft landed runway 32 at 2256Z.
