Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

Lufthansa Airlines Airbus A340-6600 flight DLH451 was enroute to Frankfurt (EDDF) from Los Angeles (KLAX) when they declared a medical emergency over Ottawa (CYOW) Crew elected to land Toronto(CYYZ), which required a fuel dump. Aircraft landed at 1044Z with no delay or further incident. Airline made their own arrangements for medical aid, GTAA notified.

Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)

DLH451advised that they needed to divert to Winnipeg due to a medical emergency involving an ill passenger. Aircraft required to dump fuel enroute back to Winnipeg. Landed at 0730Z without further event.

Incident at about 53º35'N 086º38'W

The Deutsche Lufthansa Airlines Boeing 747-400 series aircraft (operating as DLH451) was on a scheduled IFR flight from Los Angeles International Airport, CA (U.S.A.) (KLAX) to Germany (EDDF). En-route, over northern Ontario, a passenger medical emergency developed and the flight crew elected to divert to Montréal (PETIA) (CYUL). An ambulance and doctor were requested to be present for the landing (NAV CANADA staff at Montréal ACC made arrangements for this). The aircraft landed without further incident at Montréal (PETIA) (CYUL) at 0706Z. Note: this incident was also reported by Montréal ACC staff (as A.O.R. #58769-V1) in additon to Edmonton ACC staff (as A.O.R. #58766-V1).

Lufthansa B747-400 DLH451 was executing a flight under IFR from Los Angeles to Frankfurt. The pilot detoured to Montreal because of a medical emergency. DLH451, un B747-400 de Lufthansa, effectuait un vol selon les règles de vol aux instruments (IFR) entre Los Angeles et Frankfurt. Le pilote a dérouté vers Montréal à cause d'une urgence médicale.

Incident at Mirabel

The aircraft was on an IFR flight from Los Angeles to Frankfurt when it received a bomb scare. The aircraft landed at Mirabel at 0532Z. There were 236 persons on board.

Incident at Enroute over Manitoba/Ontario

Winnipeg shift manager advised that DLH451 (LAX-EDDF) diverted to Montreal (Mirabel) due to bomb threat. Pilot requested passengers be off-loaded and aircraft isolated at Mirabel. Aircraft landed without incident at 0533Z. Ops. Impact -- unknown.

Incident at Lansdowne House/Ogoki, Ontario

Deutsche Lufthansa (DLH451) while enroute Frankfurt from Los Angeles, diverted to Montreal Mirabel due to a bomb threat. The Company initially decided that the threat was a hoax. At the time of the diversion the aircraft was positioned at 65 E of Lansdowne House and 45 N of Ogoki, Ontario at 0409Z. There were 223 passengers and 13 crew.

November 8, 1994

Incident at Gander Ocean (61N/50W)

Boeing B747, Lufthansa, DLH451 The crew of Virgin 20 shut down the #1 engine and requested clearance form FL 370 to FL330. ATC was unable to give clearance due to traffic (DLH 451) so the pilot declared an emergency, carried out the contingency and descended to FL 330. Separation was lost with several aircraft. TSB case closed.
