Incident at Charlottetown PEI

CGC353 BO105 helicopter was in cruising flight after take-off the pilot notice the Engine Chip Warning light illuminate. Pilot followed SOPS and "Zapped" (Burned-Off) the Chip. The Warning light extinguished but reappeared within 30 seconds. The pilot reduced power on the affected engine. The aircraft was about 5 nm from departure and the pilot returned to land. In preparation to land the pilot brought the affected engine to flight power and requested ERS from ATC. The Helicopter landed without further problem. Coast Guard maintenance is currently investigating the cause of the Chip Light. TSC case close File # A99A0119
