Incident at OTTAWA / GATINEAU QC (CYND)

An Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) executed a missed approach for Runway 27 due to an Evolution Flight School Inc. Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-GEWM) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) being slow to vacate the runway. C-GEEH rejoined the circuit and landed without further incident.

A Government of Canada Department of National Defence Lockheed C-130 (Hercules) (TIGR334) from Trenton, ON (CYTR) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) conducted a missed approach on Runway 09 due to an Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND), which was taxiing on the runway to leave via Taxiway A. No other impact on operations.

An Academie De Pilotage Internationale Cessna 172P (C-FPAU) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) requested priority for an alternator issue while mid downwind for Runway 27. Aircraft landed safely at 2243Z. Impact: A privately registered Piper PA-46-500TP from St. Catharines/Niagara, ON (CYSN) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) conducted an orbit in long final. An Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) was delayed by a couple minutes on the ground.

Incident at OTTAWA / GATINEAU QC (CYND)

A Chrispair Aviation Inc. Cessna 340 (C-FZOH) from Arnprior, ON (CNP3) to Arnprior, ON (CNP3) entered the Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) zone 5 NM west, without contacting the flight service station (FSS); it seemed to be on final for Runway 09. At the same time, an Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) was on base for Runway 09 between 1 100 and 1 200 ft. The specialist was able to talk to the pilot of C-FZOH at approximately 3 NM west of the runway, when it was between 1 600 and 1 700 ft and approximately 1/4 NM from C-GEEH. The specialist asked C-FZOH to go south to avoid this and other traffic (4 other aircraft) in the circuit.

An Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) was lining up for departure from Runway 27 when a privately registered Cessna 172L from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) crossed the hold short line to back track on Runway 27 without contacting the Flight Service Station (FSS). No impact on operations.

Incident at 4NM OTTAWA / GATINEAU QC (ND)

An American, corporately registered Extra Flugzeugbau GMBH EA 300/L (N888XT) on a flight from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) and landing at Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) had a radio failure and squawked 7600. The no radio (NORDO) aircraft was observed inbound for the field. An Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) on a flight from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) and landing at Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND), inbound for landing, was advised and took action to accommodate N888XT. An École de pilotage evolution (C-GWXV) on a flight from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) and landing at Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND), holding for departure, was delayed. NORDO aircraft landed without further incident at 1901Z.

Incident at OTTAWA / GATINEAU QC (CYND) (FOD (foreign object debris))

An Ottawa Aviation Services Inc. Cessna 172S (C-GIFF) from Ottawa/Macdonald?Cartier International, ON (CYOW) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) reported debris on the runway, which resulted in the aircraft having to conduct a go-around. Another aircraft, an Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) that was on a flight from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) and landing at Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) also conducted a go-around. A vehicle (ST22) was advised and removed the foreign object debris (FOD). No other impact on operations.

A Pristine Air Group Inc. Cessna 172K (C-FBVJ) on a flight from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) and landing at Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) was holding short on Alpha, then entered Runway 27 for a backtrack without contacting the flight service station (FSS) while a Gatineau-Ottawa Flying Club Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) was on short final. The flight service station (FSS) requested C-FBVJ to exit the runway. No impact on operations.

An Ottawa Aviation Services Cessna 172S (C-GIFF) on a flight to Gatineau-Ottawa Executive, QC (CYND) executed a go around because they were following an Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) on a flight to Gatineau-Ottawa Executive, QC (CYND) too closely. No impact on operation.

Incident at 12NM OTTAWA / MACDONALD-CARTIER INTL ON (CYOW)

An Aeroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) on a flight from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) and landing at Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) entered class C airspace without air traffic control (ATC) clearance. Shortly after, communication was established. No impact on operations.

Incident at OTTAWA / GATINEAU QC (CYND)

Update (Commercial and Business Aviation): A civil aviation safety inspector (CASI) looked into this incident. The student pilot will receive additional training from his flight instructor before his next solo flight.
An Evolution Flight School Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-GIIN) on a local flight from Gatineau, QC (CYND) inbound, made the initial call outside the zone and was unable to hear the flight service station (FSS) response. C-GIIN tried multiple times without hearing back from the FSS and entered the zone. On 1NM final, C-GIIN turned left, eastbound. When 2NM from the airport, C-GIIN turned left north-westbound as a Gatineau Ottawa Flying Club Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) on a local flight from CYND was downwind for Runway 27. C-GEEH was given traffic and turned right base with C-GIIN in sight. C-GIIN then changed radios and was able to receive an advisory prior to landing at 2243Z.

Incident at OTTAWA / GATINEAU QC (CYND)

An Aeroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) was doing Touch and Go circuits on Runway 09 at Gatineau, QC (CYND). A Cessna 172P from Sherbrooke, QC (CYSC) to Gatineau, QC (CYND) was inbound from ESE and was provided an airport advisory including C-GEEH doing circuits on Runway 09. The pilot of the Cessna 172P was updated on the position of C-GEEH on two occasions and the pilot of the Cessna 172P was advised that they were #2. The Cessna 172P turned inside of C-GEEH's circuit and the Flight Service Station (FSS) had to suggest a right turn to pass behind C-GEEH. The Cessna 172P passed within 200ft and ¼sm according to C-GEEH and Radar Data.

Incident at OTTAWA / GATINEAU QC (CYND) (Parachute-related event)

During a stop-and-go, an Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Cessna 150M (C-GEEH), on a local flight from Gatineau (CYND), QC, felt that two skydivers, in descent and still north of the runway, were in conflict with its departure from Runway 09, so it decided to hold on the runway. An American corporately-registered Quest Kodiak 100 (N76KQ/ADRNL8), on a local flight from Gatineau (CYND), QC, who disagreed and felt there was no conflict, on final approach, decided to conduct a low-and-over. No other impact.
