A Moncton Flight College Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FJXD) from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) to Fredericton, NB (CYFC) was cleared to land Runway 27. Controller observed a Moncton Flight College Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) to Fredericton, NB (CYFC) lining up for Runway 27 at Taxiway Alpha. C-FJXD was instructed to pull up and go around.

Airport authority advised and the aircraft was towed back to MFC flight school at 1250Z. Multiple MFC flight school aircraft delayed for departure.

A Moncton Flight College Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) on a flight from Fredericton Intl, NB (CYFC) to Fredericton Intl, NB (CYFC) was instructed, and read back, to fly runway heading after a touch and go on Runway 27. The controller observed the aircraft turning left crosswind towards another DV20 in the left downwind and instructed them to continue on runway heading. The pilot corrected. No impact on operations.

A Moncton Flight College Diamond DA-20-C1 (C-FEGL) from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) to Fredericton, NB (CYFC) backtracking Runway 09 for departure reported an animal in the infield. C-FEGL came to a stop and the wildlife, believed to be a deer, crossed. FIAA conducted a full field inspection, deer was not spotted. Impact limited to Flight school aircraft conducting low approaches during inspection.

A Moncton Flight College Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-GMFE) from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) to Fredericton, NB (CYFC) in circuit Runway 09 was cleared for a stop and go and had come to a full stop. The pilot reported wildlife crossing just down the runway from them. A Moncton Flight College Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) to Fredericton, NB (CYFC) behind, planning a full stop, had to pull up and rejoin the downwind due first aircraft still on runway. Inspection completed with no wildlife found. No further impact to operations.

Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

A CANLink Aviation Inc. Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) on a local flight from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) was instructed to line up Runway 33 at Taxiway Alpha. The aircraft read back line up Runway 33 at Alpha. Shortly after, the aircraft was observed rolling for takeoff without a takeoff clearance. Due to student pilot in critical state of flight, the controller did not tell pilot to abort take off. After the aircraft became airborne, the controller instructed the pilot to fly runway heading due to traffic and the remainder of the departure continued without further incident.

A field inspection was completed on Runway 27, and nothing found. No operational impact.

C-FEGL remained on runway after being cleared to take off several times. Aircraft remained on the runway and C-FZKH was told to pull up. Pilot of C-FEGL was told to taxi back to Flight College.

A Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) on a local flight from CYFC on final was cleared to land 27. The C-GHTO on taxiway A taxied to position runway 27 with out clearance. The controller quickly cleared that C-GHTO to take off. The arriving C-FEGL landed without issue after the aircraft departed.

Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

UPDATE: Fredericton Airport Incident Report#2015-0151: The Tower advised fire hall via the direct line that a Diamond Eclipse was inbound with a rough running engine. Airport trucks Red 9+8 responded to stand by position in taxiway Alpha. The aircraft landed without incident on runway 27 and returned to the college with trucks Red 9+8 following behind. The trucks were back at the station at 2320Z. No further incident.
At approximately 2300Z, a Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) on a local flight from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) outbound to training area called returning due to rough running engine. The aircraft landed safely on Runway 27 at 2307Z. Emergency response was put on standby, with no impact to operations.

After take off, the aircraft turned northeast. The aircraft was asked again to remain south of VOR and again pilot read back correctly, but continued northeast regardless of heading restriction.

An American privately registered Beech A36 from Bangor, ME (KBGR) to Fredericton, NB (CYFC) on the right visual approach to Runway 27 was sequenced number two to follow a Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) on a local flight from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) on left base for a low approach. As the Beech A36 did not indicate traffic was in sight he was instructed to remain on the downwind and await tower call for base. The Beech A36 was given a point out on the traffic late downwind, and did not report traffic in sight. The Beech A36 then turned base and final underneath C-FEGL. Tower instructed C-FEGL to pull up immediately and shortly after instructed them to turn left crosswind. The Beech A36 landed at 1712Z.

Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

A Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) was returning from a cross country flight from Moncton, NB (CYQM) and was cleared to the left hand downwind runway 11. After initial contact, the pilot reported a rough running engine and requested to land on runway 24. The pilot advised that no emergency assistance was required. The pilot was cleared straight-in runway 24 and landed at 2027Z.
Update Maintenance & Manufacturing: The aircraft was snagged as rough running engine. Right mag issues. Maintenance checked the engine timing with no faults. All sparkplugs were checked, three were replaced due to wear and all other plugs were cleaned, gapped, tested and reinstalled. Aircraft ground runs were carried out with magneto checks normal and engine running smoothly.

A Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FNGN) on a local flight in Moncton, NB (CYQM) was instructed to cross runway 29 at Delta with no delay. Another Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FEGL) was 1.5 mile final for runway 29. C-FNGN missed the instruction so a hold short instruction had to be issued. C-FNGN acknowledged but did not read back the instruction. Hold short instruction had to be re-issue. C-FNGN read back the instruction but started to taxi across runway 29 with C-FEGL on final, but not yet cleared to land. C-FNGN was instructed to do a 180 degree turn, the plane quickly reversed course and vacated the runway. C-FEGL was cleared to land without delay. No operational impact.

UPDATE Maintenance & Manufacturing: The wheel assembly was removed and the tube was found to have a puncture. A new tire and tube were installed and the aircraft was released into service.
Upon landing, C-FEGL, Diamond DA 20 C1, reported a flat front nose wheel but was able to continue taxiing off runway.

C-GMFI, Diamond DA 20 C1, landed on Runway 24 in Moncton (CYQM) and was instructed to vacate onto Runway 11 without delay. Before reaching Runway 11, C-GMFI vacated onto the grass area. C-FEGL, Diamond DA 20 C1, on final for a touch-and-go manoeuvre was instructed to conduct a missed approach.

Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

C-FEGL, Diamond DA 20 C1, was taxiing on a closed runway which was available as a taxiway in Moncton (CYQM). The aircraft reported shutting down due to vibrations. The operator was notified. The aircraft experienced a flat tire which was changed and the aircraft taxied to the apron. There was no impact on operations.
UPDATE Maintenance & Manufacturing: Inspection of the aircraft revealed a stuck valve on cylinder # 3 exhaust which was causing the vibration. There was no flat tire. The defect was repaired and the aircraft was test flown satisfactory.

Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Saint John Flight Service Station (FSS) received several transmissions with carrier only, no voice on YFC RAAS 119.0. C-FEGL was inside the Control Zone, inbound from the east and C-FZKH, was over the VOR in a hold. The FSS saw a NARDS target eastbound about three miles east of Fredericton (CYFC). The aircraft was tagged as C-FJXH, a Diamond DA 20 C1. The FSS called C-FJXH but received carrier only in response. C-FJXH squawked it?s identification in response to the FSS request. C-FJXH left the Control Zone with Receive Only communications. C-FJXH had departed Fredericton without an advisory and was on a round robin Moncton (CYQM) ? Fredericton - Moncton. No operational impact at Fredericton. The Moncton Tower observed C-FJXH squawking 7600 (lost communication) 40 miles west of Moncton. It was believed by the Moncton Tower that C-FJXH could only receive transmissions; however C-FJXH did acknowledge instructions and landed without incident at 04:45Z. There was no impact on operations in Moncton.

Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

C-FEGL, Diamond DA 20 C1, enroute from Fredericton (CYFC) to Moncton (CYQM), landed on Runway 29 and advised the tower of a possible electrical fire. C-FEGL taxied off Runway 29 and the fire hall responded and advised that there was no electrical fire. There was no impact on operations.
UPDATE Maintenance & Manufacturing: Wiring and electrical systems throughout the aircraft were inspected with no burnt wires or other defects found. A muffler inspection was also carried out with no issues found. The aircraft was ground run but the issue could not be duplicated. The aircraft was released back into service and there has been no further issues.

Vectors and navigation assistance were provided by Air Traffic Control (ATC) to assist the pilot to locate Fredericton airport. A check-fire request was put in place at CYR724 (CFB Gagetown). The aircraft landed safely at 14:55Z.

Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

UPDATE Maintenance & Manufacturing: CADORS 2008A1147, 2008A1152, 2008A1158 and 2008A1160 relate to flat tires incurred by Moncton Flight College aircraft. The tubes installed in the these aircraft were all installed prior to September 11, 2008 when a new receiving inspection procedure was developed to prevent the receipt and subsequent installation of defective tubes as delivered by their supplier. Although they are not currently engaged in a fleet wide tube replacement, they are replacing the older tubes whenever a tire is replaced.
C-FEGL, Diamond DA 20 C1, reported a flat tire at the runway intersection. One aircraft was unable to land and proceeded enroute to Saint John (CYSJ). A second aircraft circled outside of the zone until the aircraft was removed. There was no impact on safety.

The Specialist acknowledged the call while focusing on additional traffic on final for Runway15. C-FEGL reported final for Runway 27 with vehicles on that runway. C-FEGL performed a missed approach and rejoined the circuit for Runway 15. Nil TSB.

C-FEGL, Diamond DA 20 C1, was informed of seagull activity south of the runway intersection. During the take off roll, the birds moved onto the runway. The aircraft aborted the takeoff roll prior to the intersection. Red 5 was dispatched to clear away the birds. The aircraft departed with no further incident. Nil TSB.
