Incident at Gander Oceanic

At 1945Z westbound BAW299, Boeing 777-200, enroute from London (EGLL) to Chicago (KORD), position 58N 41W, 37,000 ft., declared medical emergency (passenger) and requested clearance to divert to Goose Bay (CYYR). Flight accepted climb to 38,000 and upon reaching was cleared direct to CYYR. Landed without further incident at 2125Z. Nil TSB
Aviation Operations Update: An 82-year-old unresponsive female passenger transported to local hospital by ambulance and aircraft continued on to its destination.

BAW299 B747 Enroute London to Chicago reported Low Oil Setting in # 1 engine. Requested and received clearance to return London at FL290. At 1715z flight advised shutting down # 1 engine. Nil TSB

August 31, 1997

Incident at over northeastern Ontario

At 1630Z, Toronto ACC staff received an estimate from Montréal ACC staff on BAW299, estimating Sault Ste. Marie at 1732Z. The aircraft's #3 engine was unservicable and the flight crew had requested and received direct Chicago (O'Hare) International Airport, IL (U.S.A.) (KORD). The flight crew also requested a particular runway at Chicago. Information was passed to Minneapolis Center and Chicago. BAW299 went through Toronto ACC airspace without further incident. Ops. impact -- unknown.

Incident at 70nm N Rouyn-Noranda

The pilot was IFR from London to Chicago and requested to be rerouted to Mirabel due to a passenger with heart problems. The pilot requested that an ambulance with medical equipment be waiting. The pilot did not declare an emergency. The aircraft landed at 1737Z.
