Incident at Kelowna

ARN823, a BAE 146, enroute to CYVR was abeam Penticton when a medical emergency developed. The aircraft diverted to Kelowna and landed at 0215z.

October 27, 1999

Incident at 50 NM Northeast Sydney

ARN823 DH8 enroute Deer Lake to Halifax when approximately 50 miles East of Sydney the # 1 Engine Oil Pressure started indicating "Low". The crew secured the engine advised ATC and request clearance to Sydney. Aircraft landed without incident. Maintenance replaced the Prop Actuator and returned the aircraft to service. Incident at Halifax Intl

ACA608 B767 was cleared for an ILS Runway 24 via the Funday 3 FMS arrival., DUTIR, LEROS specified. The flight was then changed to the Tower. The Terminal controller later noticed that the flight did not turn "Base" leg but continued on a downwind. This created a potential confliction with ARN823. ACA608 was changed back to the Terminal controller who vectored the aircraft to final. No danger of collision existed. The minimum spacing between aircraft was aprx. 5 miles and 5,000 feet. When queried, ACA608 said he expected vectors to final even though he had been issued an approach with a "Closed" arrival. The controller explained the correct procedure to the pilot and changed him back to the tower. Nil TSB

Incident at Deer Lake, NFLD (ATS operating irregularity)

CDN 470 GIVEN DEPARTURE ADVISORY WITH TWO DH8's ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 25. AFTER ONE DH8 LANDED, CDN470 TAXIED ONTO RUNWAY 07 AND ADVISED THE SECOND DH8 (ARN823) THAT HE WOULD HOLD POSITION ON 07 WHILE ARN 823 LANDED RUNWAY 25. ARN823 REQUESTED CDN 470 TO GET OFF THE RUNWAY WHILE HE CIRCLED. CDN 470 THEN TOOK A VFR DEPARTURE OFF RUNWAY 07. ARN823 LANDED RUNWAY 25 TWO MINUTES LATER.

DH8 ARN823 - AT 1100Z, A/C WAS INBOUND FROM ST JOHN'S AND ADVISED OF AN UNSAFE GEAR INDICATION AND HOLDING AT 6000 FT. A/P DUTY MANAGER AND ERS ADVISED. AT 1114Z, A/C ADVISED THAT THEY WERE RETURNING TO ST JOHN'S AT 1120Z. THEN ADVISED "OPS NORMAL" AND RETURNING TO GANDER. NO ASSISTANCE REQUIRED. LANDED SAFELY AT 1136Z. TIEM = 1000Z. ACTION = MAH/HZ.
