After the inspection, a carcass was found on the runway. TSC107 landed on Runway 24L at 1729Z.

A China Eastern Airlines Airbus A330-243 (B5931/CES581) from Shanghai Pudong, China (ZSPD) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR) on the WHISTLER5 arrival into CYVR for Runway 26R closed the open standard terminal arrival (STAR) without clearance. CES581 queried the arrival controller about closing the STAR and was told to maintain its present heading approximately 1.6NM prior to the SEDUS intersection. CES581 readback the clearance but still initiated a base turn at SEDUS and was vectored once again by the arrival controller, who noticed the error immediately. An Air Canada Airbus A319-114 (C-FYJI/ACA209) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR) was vectored off the approach for Runway 26R to ensure separation was maintained with CES581.

TSB Report #A19F0035: C-FRSE, a Boeing 787-9 aircraft operated by Air Canada, was conducting flight ACA26 from Shanghai/Pudong Intl (ZSPD), China to Vancouver Intl (CYVR), BC with 13 crew members and 287 passengers on board. During cruise flight approximately 250 nm south southwest of Juneau Intl (PAJN), AK, the flight experienced light to moderate turbulence, which caused VMO to be exceeded. Shortly thereafter, the flight crew received a generator drive failure. The flight crew continued the flight, and reached destination approximately 90 minutes later. The operator’s maintenance performed the CAUTION ELEC GEN DRIVE R2 EICAS procedure. No further action was required for the speed exceedance as it was within the tolerance of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM). The aircraft was returned to service.

On initial call at 1725Z, a truck (MTC682) was cleared VICTOR HOLD SHORT 33R. Read back was correct. MTC682 was observed crossing 33R and turning north on ALPHA. MTC682 was re-cleared to hold short of Tango on Alpha. A China Easter Airlines Corporation Limited Boeing 777 300 Series (CES207) from Shanghai Pudong Intl Airport, China (ZSPD) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) was 5.8 nautical miles final to Runway 33R on tower frequency. No operational impact. Transportation Safety Board (TSB) was notified.
Update TSB Report #A18O0167: MTC 682, a maintenance vehicle was operating at Lester B. Pearson Intl - Toronto (CYYZ) and was instructed by ATC to taxi onto VICTOR taxiway and hold short of Runway 33R. A short time later, ATC observed MTC 682 crossing Runway 33R and proceeding on ALPHA taxiway without a clearance. At the time of the runway crossing, a Boeing 777-300, operated by China Eastern Airlines as flight 207 was on final approach for the runway, 5.8 miles from the threshold.

Dispatch reported that an Air Canada Boeing 787-8 (C-GHQQ/ACA011) from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau International, QC (CYUL) to Shanghai Pudong International, China (ZSPD) was diverting to Toronto/Pearson International, ON (CYYZ) due to a mechanical issue. No emergency was declared and ACA011 landed on Runway 23 at 2058Z. No impact to operations.
Update ? TBS #A18Q0139: C-GHQQ, a Boeing 787-8 operated by Air Canada was conducting Flight ACA11, from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl, QC (CYUL) to Shanghai/Pudong Intl, China (ZSPD), with 13 crew members and 248 passengers. Shortly after departure from CYUL, the variable frequency starter generator defaulted. In accordance with the quick reference handbook (QRH), the auxiliary power unit (APU) was started. However, since the procedure required that the APU run during the entire flight, the minimum fuel requirement at the time was insufficient to reach the destination. The flight crew therefore asked to be diverted to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ), where an overweight landing was performed. The operator?s maintenance personnel replaced the variable frequency starter generator and carried out an inspection after the overweight landing. No problem detected.

TSB Report #A18O0037: C-FRAM, a Boeing 777-300 aircraft operated by Air Canada, was conducting flight ACA027 from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) to Shanghai/Pudong Intl, China (ZSPD) with 17 crew members and 396 passengers on board. During cruise flight approximately 600 nm North of CYYZ, the flight crew noted a hydraulic problem. After consultation with the operator?s operational and maintenance control centres, the aircraft was returned to CYYZ and landed without further event with ARFF standing by. The aircraft stopped on the runway and was inspected for hot brakes before proceeding to the gate.

An Air Canada Embraer ERJ 190-100 IGW (ACA459) on a flight from Ottawa/MacDonald-Cartier, ON (CYOW) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) was instructed to overshoot Runway 23 to maintain runway separation with departing traffic, a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 777-300 (CES208) on a flight from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Shanghai, China (ZSPD). ACA459 landed Runway 23 at 2211Z.

An Air Canada Boeing 777 300 Series (ACA016) from Hong Kong (VHHH) to Toronto/Pearson, ON (CYYZ) was instructed to overshoot CYYZ Runway 23 due to the previous arrival, an Air Canada Boeing 777 200 Series (ACA028) from Shanghai, China (ZSPD) to Toronto/Pearson, ON (CYYZ) being late exiting the runway. In addition, there was a departure, an Endeavor Air, Inc. CL-600-2D24 (Series 900) (EDV3759) from Toronto/Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Detroit/Wayne County, MI (KDTW) in position waiting for clearance. No operational impact.
