at 30NM TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)
An Air Georgian Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (GGN7318) on a flight from Raleigh/Durham, NC (KRDU) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) communicated a flap indicator light issue. Emergency declared and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) on standby. The aircraft landed Runway 23 at 0042Z without issue and taxied to gate under its own power.
UPDATE: TSB Report#A17O0218: C-GXJA, a Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (CRJ-200) aircraft operated by Air Georgian, was conducting flight GGN7318 from Raleigh-Durham Intl, NC (KRDU) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) with 3 crew members and 49 passengers on board. During the initial climb after the departure from KRDU, the flight crew observed a FLAP FAIL EICAS caution message when retracting flaps to the UP position. The flight crew levelled the aircraft off at 15 000 feet and confirmed that the flaps were in the up position by verifying on the secondary flight control page, in addition to a visual inspection from the cabin. The FLAP FAIL QRH checklist was executed and the flight proceeded to CYYZ at normal cruising altitude. Upon initial contact with Toronto ATC, the flight crew declared PAN PAN as a precaution, in case the flaps would not extend from the up position. When the flaps were selected for the approach, they remained in the up position. The flight crew completed the remainder of the FLAP FAIL QRH and configured the aircraft for a flapless landing. Runway 23, the longest runway available, was requested and the aircraft landed ithout further incident. The operator?s maintenance performed troubleshooting in accordance with FIM 27-50-00-01 and replaced the Flap Electronic Control Unit (FECU). Additionally, the Brake Position Sensor Units (BPSU) were rigged. After operational checks were completed, the aircraft was returned to service.
