Incident at 70 Nautical Miles South of Halifax (CYHZ)

RCH135, C17, enroute from Pope Air Force Base (KPOB) to RAF Mildenhall (EGUN), reported a flight control computer malfunction. The aircraft requested clearance to descend to 18,000 feet and to divert to Dover Air Force Base (KDOV). No emergency was declared. The aircraft exited Canadian airspace at 10:00Z.

At 21:50Z, RCH396, C130, enroute from Pope Air Force Base (KPOB) to St. John?s (CYYT), advised of a possible gear problem. On final approach to St. John?s the flight declared an emergency and landed without incident at 22:13Z.

At 01:06Z, RCH9744, C17, enroute from Pope Air Force Base (KPOB) to Ramstein Air Force Base (ETAR), requested to divert to Bangor (KBGR) due to a partial loss of the navigation system. The aircraft was issued clearance to descend to 34,000 ft. then right turn to 54N050W CARPE REDBY. No emergency was declared and there was no traffic. Nil TSB.

Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

RCH5103, C17, enroute from Pope Air Force Base (KPOB) to Spangdahlem (ETAD), at approximate position 5021N 4731W, declared an emergency due to a hydraulic issue. The flight was at 29,000 ft. and was given an Air Traffic Control (ATC) clearance at 28,000 ft to turn back and land at St. John?s (CYYT). There was no traffic and no assistance was requested. The flight landed at 01:22Z and requested to check landing gear for a hydraulic leak before taxing off the runway. The inspection was completed at 01:37Z without any problems. Inbound ACA658 was delayed landing clearance for 17 minutes as a result of the emergency.

RCH137, C130, enroute from St. John?s (CYYT) to Pope Air Force Base (KPOB), departed from Runway 29 on a SID3 departure. The aircraft turned right without clearance, deviating from the Standard Instrument Departure (SID), and requested to return due to being unable to retract the landing gear. The aircraft cancelled IFR and landed without assistance at 20:10Z. Nil TSB.

RCH5105, C17, enroute from Pope Air Force Base (KPOB) to Ramstein (ETAR), after re-fueling in AR20, requested clearance to Mc Guire Air Force Base (KWRI) due to a computer malfunction causing loss of MNPS /RVSM certification. The aircraft exited Canadian airspace at 02:44Z. Nil TSB.

At 0652, RCH2104, C17, enroute from Pope Air Force Base (KPOB) to Ramstein (ETAR) declared an emergency due to an unspecified equipment issue. The flight crew requested to divert to Bangor (KBGR). Clearance was issued as requested. The aircraft did not require standby equipment. Information was passed to the Boston Air Route Traffic Control Centre (ARTCC) and the aircraft exited the Moncton Flight Information Region (FIR) at 06:58Z. Nil TSB.

RCH5001, C5 Galaxy, enroute from Rota (LERT) to Pope Air Force Base (KPOB) at 24,000 ft., at position 48N 40W, declared an emergency due to engine problems. The aircraft shut down the #4 engine and changed the destination to Bangor (KBGR). Nil TSB.

Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

PAT103, Gulfstream G5, enroute from Ramstein (ETAR) to POPE AFB (KPOB) declared an emergency at 40,000 ft., requested descent to 15,000 ft. and requested a diversion to Halifax (CYHZ). Initially the pilot did not give any details of the emergency but as they approached Halifax, the pilot explained they had a "Hot " pressure bleed problem. The pilot did not require any assistance upon arrival, however the emergency vehicles were in position. The aircraft landed in Halifax at 19:44Z. TSB Evaluating.
