Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

RRR4306, C130, enroute from Lyneham (EGDL) to St. John?s (CYYT), 45 miles east of St. John's, inbound for landing, declared an emergency and shutdown the number-4 engine. No assistance was requested and the aircraft landed at 21:55Z without further incident.

RRR5628, C130, enroute from RAF Lyneham (EGDL) to Gander (CYQX), at 00:38Z, requested clearance to execute a missed approach to Runway 03 in Gander due to gear problems. No emergency was declared. The aircraft requested a hold and at 01:06Z advised that the problem was solved. The aircraft landed at 01:14Z. Nil TSB.

Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

RRR5111, C130, enroute from Halifax (CYHZ) to Lyneham (EGDL), departed Runway 23 at 12:23Z and reported hitting a bird on departure near the threshold of Runway 05. The runway was inspected but nothing was found. ACA609 opted to wait and was delayed by three minutes. Nil TSB.

Incident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)

RRR5224, C 130, enroute from Lyneham (EGDL) to Gander (CYQX), while conducting the approach at Gander, advised that they had a landing gear problem and wished to orbit while attempting to resolve the problem. At approximately 23:17Z, the crew declared PAN PAN PAN which they subsequently cancelled at 23:40Z but requested that Emergency Response Services (ERS) standby. The aircraft landed at 23:53Z without further incident.

RRR5102, C130, enroute from Lyneham (EGDL) to Gander (CYQX), advised that the aircraft had a fluid leak in the number two engine and requested to divert to St. John's (CYYT) as a precaution. No emergency was declared and the aircraft landed at 17:28Z. Nil TSB.

RRR5857 (Royal Air Force), C-130, enroute from St. John?s (CYYT) to Lyneham (EGDL) at position 48N 50W reported #4 engine flameout. Pilot declared an emergency and requested to return to CYYT. Aircraft landed safely AT 1904Z. Nil TSB.

Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

RRR4755, C130, enroute from St. John?s (CYYT) to Lyneham (EGDL), departed St. John's at 1622Z. Approximately 30NE of the aerodrome, the pilot declared an emergency due to problems with the #3 generator and had to shut down the engine. The aircraft dumped fuel for 10 minutes and was re-cleared to St. John's for landing. Aircraft landed at 1710Z without further incident. Nil TSB.

At 2043Z, a Royal Air Force C130 from Gander to Lyneham (EGDL) which had departed Gander at 2035Z advised of technical difficulties and requested a turnback clearance to Gander. The aircraft executed a fuel dump procedure and landed in Gander at 2107Z without further incident.

Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

A Military C-130 departed Halifax at 1424Z and was bound for EGDL (Ludwigshaffen). At 1428Z the aircraft called Halifax TCU and advised the #3 engine was shutdown an requested to return to Halifax. AFF and the Halifax Airport Authority were advised. The aircraft landed safely at 1436Z with AFF standing by. There was no significant delay to other aircraft.

Incident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)

The C130 was departing for EGDL but the crew noticed a fuel leak while on RWY 31 awaiting departure. The crew requested taxi back to the apron and for ERS to standby. The aircraft later departed without incident with ERS standing down. RED #1 reported a small amount of fuel was cleaned up on the threshold of RWY 31. TSB no involvement.
