Incident at RINGWAY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - MANCHESTER (EGCC)

TSB Report #A18F0086: C-GTSZ, an Airbus 330-200 aircraft operated by Air Transat, was conducting flight TSC292 from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) to Manchester/Ringway Intl, UK (EGCC) with 12 crew members and 269 passengers on board. Shortly after the departure from CYYZ, the flight crew received a WHEEL TIRE LO PR (Tire # 7) ECAM message. Checklist items were executed and the flight crew continued the flight to destination. As the flight was approaching EGCC, ATC was notified that the aircraft needed to be inspected after the landing, and prior taxiing to the gate. Approximately one hour before touchdown, the flight crew called PAN PAN on all initial contacts with ATC. The flight crew was then informed that the flight would be treated as an emergency. Following the landing on Runway 23R, the aircraft stopped on an adjacent taxiway. The aircraft was inspected and subsequently towed to the gate. The operator's maintenance replaced the number 7 & 8 main wheel assembly in accordance with AMM 32-41-11/401. An axle and brake inspection did not reveal any damage.

TSC255 responds "We can accept FL410 at 1641Z" and the aircraft started the climb to FL410. No impact to operations.

Incident at 5049N / 09206W

UPDATE; FAA Report: A Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A330-200 (GMLJL/ TCX2924) from Manchester, United Kingdom (EGCC) to Las Vegas, NV (KLAS) diverted to Winnipeg, MB (CYWG) due to 5 intoxicated British citizens onboard. The aircraft landed without further incident. All 5 passengers were removed from the aircraft by Canadian border officials and were held in custody until they were no longer under the influence. Both Air Canada and WestJet refused to carry them to another destination. Their baggage was returned to the UK.
At approximately 1530Z, a Thomas Cook Airlines (GMLJL/TCX2924) from Manchester, United Kingdom (EGCC) to Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson, MB (CYWG) reported four violent passengers on board as well as one injured passenger and advised diverting to Winnipeg. The pilot requested police and medical services meet the plane at the gate upon arrival. The aircraft landed without further incident at 1612Z.

A Virgin Atlantic Airways Airbus A330-200 (VIR110) from Atlanta Int'l, GA (KATL) to Manchester, United Kingdom (EGCC) reported smoke in cabin. All power was shut down in cabin which caused the smoke to dissipate. Pilot requested diversion to Boston and did not declare an emergency. At time 0302Z, pilot reported readings on some sensors in the aircraft cabin that they were not comfortable with and requested diversion to Halifax. Aircraft landed in Halifax at 0324Z. Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Halifax was advised and there was no affect on the operation.

TSB update #A18A0047:G-VLNM, an Airbus 330-200 operated by Virgin Atlantic was conducting flight Vir110 from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International (KATL) Airport to Manchester Airport (EGCC) with 175 passengers and 12 crew. Approximately 100 NM NW of Stephenville NL (CYJT) the crew noted smoke in the galley area of the cabin. Cabin power was shut down and the smoke dissipated, the crew did not declare an emergency but did divert to Halifax (CYHZ) where a safe landing was conducted. Maintenance completed a galley inspection with no causal factors identified. The aircraft is being relocated to London, Gatwick for further inspection with two technicians and a full compliment of cabin crew to monitor for any further smoke enroute.

UPDATE: TSB Report#A17A0083: N190AA, a Boeing 757-200 aircraft operated by American Airlines, was conducting flight AAL054 from Chicago/O'Hare Intl, IL (KORD) to Manchester/Ringway Intl, UK (EGCC). During cruise, the flight crew received a LOW OIL PRESSURE indication on the number 1 engine. A precautionary shut down of the number 1 engine was completed, an emergency was declared with Gander Centre and a diversion to St John?s Intl, NL (CYYT) was requested. The aircraft landed without further incident with ARFF standing by.

A westbound Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited Airbus A330-300 (G-VWAG/VIR5C) from Heathrow, England (EGLL) to Miami, FL (KMIA) was flying Reduced Lateral Separation Minima (RLatSM) track and experienced unexpected Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) disconnect, making it ineligible for flight in this prescribed airspace. RLatSM lateral minima of 30NM was being applied against another Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 (G-VOOH/VIR019V) from Manchester, England (EGCC) to Atlanta, GA (KATL). VIR5C was descended to non-RLatSM flight level to regain appropriate lateral separation from all traffic.
UPDATE: TSB#A16A0014: The Virgin Atlantic B787 (registration G-VOOH) aeroplane was enroute from Heathrow (EGLL) to Miami (KMIA). While in Oceanic airspace the flight lost the Automatic Dependent Surveillance- Contract (ADS-C) connection making it ineligible for continued flight in reduced lateral separation measure (RLatSM) airspace. The flight was descended to a non-RLatSM altitude to regain required lateral separation from Virgin Atlantic A330-300 (registration G-VWAG) enroute from Manchester (EGCC) to Atlanta (KATL).
