Incident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR)

The controller noticed a Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 (DAIXA/DLH476) from Munich, Germany (EDDM) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR) slowing to exit on M4 and instructed the aircraft to stay on the runway and exit at M6. The pilot said they were already committed to M4. M4 is restricted by NOTAM, and is not for use for this type of aircraft. ASO contacted for direction on what to do with a/c. The Airside Safety Officer (ASO), attended site and instructed the aircraft to make turn onto M, eastbound with caution, and taxi into gate.
UPDATE from Airworthiness: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. Correction to aircraft model. Narrative portion updated to read: "The controller noticed a Lufthansa Airbus A350-900 (DAIXA/DLH476) from Munich, Germany (EDDM) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR)..."

A Sunwing Airlines Boeing 737-400 (SWG272) on a flight from Cancun, Mexico (MMUN) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) reported a possible blown tire on rollout. An Air Canada Boeing 777-300 (ACA847) on a flight from Munich, Germany (EDDM) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) was overshot. Several arrivals were diverted to Runway 06R. A few departures were delayed. Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) inspected the runway and no debris was found. The aircraft began leaking fluid in the holding bay Runway 24R. Subsequently the GTAA closed Runway06L due to the tail of the disabled aircraft being in the obstacle limitation surface (OLS).

ACA847 requested Runway 24R and arranged for emergency medical services (EMS) to meet them at the gate. ACA847 was given priority and landed on Runway 24R at 1833Z without incident. No impact to operations. Duplicate AOR-255430 deleted.

A United Airlines Inc. Airbus A319-132 (N899UA/UAL582) from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International Airport, ON (CYYZ) to Chicago/OHare, IL (KORD) was slow to line up on Runway 05, so the tower gave missed approach instructions in the event of a missed approach, but allowed a Lufthansa Airbus A350-900 (DAIXF/DLH494) from Munich, Germany (EDDM) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International Airport, ON (CYYZ) to continue, as runway separation would have existed. DLH494 was then observed in the missed approach, possibly due to a language issue with the instructions issued. DLH494 landed at 2237Z. No operational impact.

The crew confirmed that it had received a new flight plan from the company after takeoff. Error detected by automatic dependent surveillance ? contract (ADS-C). No impact on operations.

A Dutsche Lufthansa Aktiengesellschaft Airbus A330-300 (DLH494) from Munich Airport, Germany (EDDM) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Int'l, ON (CYYZ) was given and read back the tower frequency on 118.35. On final , the tower gave DLH494 a wind check and landing clearance which was not acknowledged. Several more calls were made to DLH494 with no response and tower transmitted in the blind. DLH494 landed Runway 06R at 2247Z. No calls were received until the aircraft exited on Taxiway D5 and DLH494 called ground for taxi instructions. Operations on Runway 06L were halted during this period.

They requested a turn around and to re-route to New York-John F. Kennedy (KJFK). Ronkonkoma NY called Moncton (QM) with an estimate to get the aircraft under radar surveillance for better service. The aircraft was radar identified at 0145Z and entered Boston Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) at 0224Z without incident.
