The Moncton area control centre (ACC) reported that an American, corporately registered Cessna 560 (N555UZ) from Akron–Canton, OH (KCAK) to St. Johns, NL (CYYT) deviated from FL370 to FL365, then quickly returned back to FL370. It appeared that the aircraft deviated from its route, as well. No impact on operations, safety was not jeopardized, separation was assured.

Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

A Provincial Aerospace Beech B200 (C-FRHZ/SPR02) from St. Johns, NL (CYYT) to St. Johns, NL (CYYT) declared an emergency and landed safely in CYYT at 1630Z. No impact on operations.
UPDATE: TSB Report #A21A0009: C-FRHZ, a Beech B200 operated by PAL Aerospace Ltd. (i.e. Provincial Aerospace), was conducting flight SPR02 on a local area VFR flight from St. Johns, NL (CYYT) with 4 people onboard. After departure from CYYT, the crew noticed that not all of the landing gear position indicator lights had extinguished after the landing gear was selected up. The decision was made to return to CYYT. When the landing gear was selected "down" prior to landing, only 2 of the 3 landing gear position indicator lights illuminated. The landing gear appeared to be down using onboard optics equipment. The crew declared an emergency and the aircraft landed at CYYT without incident at 1630Z with the ARFF on standby. The operators maintenance department discovered that the landing gear position press-to-test switch was stuck in the "on" position, giving a false indication. Also, the left-hand (LH) gear indicator light was burnt out. The landing gear position switch (P/N 101-3175-1S) was replaced and function checks were carried out satisfactorily. The aircraft was returned to service and a Service Difficulty Report (SDR) was submitted to Transport Canada.

Approximately 5 minutes later, the aircraft requested to turn back due to aircraft equipment issues. The aircraft turned back and arrived in CYYT at 1709Z.

The vehicle was observed crossing the hold short line and was told to stop. The vehicle stopped about 500 feet from the edge of Runway 16/34. The aircraft, a Provincial Aerospace de Havilland DHC-8-106 (C-FFPW/SPR08) from St. Johns, NL (CYYT) to St. Johns, NL (CYYT) was cleared to land at the time and was short final. The runway protected area (RPA) was still protected and the aircraft landed.

Shortly after departure, a Phoenix Air Gulfstream G-1159A (N163PA/PHA162) on a flight from St. Johns, NL (CYYT) indicated that the aircrafts flaps would not fully retract, the same issue that had been reported on the previous flight. PHA162 requested to divert to Gander, NL (CYQX) and did not declare an emergency, nor requested any assistance. There was no impact to operations and the flight landed at 1514Z.

Incident at 20NM W ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

A Jazz Bombardier DHC-8-402 (C-GJZA/JZA8991) from St. Johns, NL (CYYT) to Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ) reported an odour in the cabin and assumed that there was residual de-icing fluid around the cabin door. The flight returned to CYYT, no assistance was required. No impact to operations and the flight landed at 1415Z.
UPDATE: TSB Report #A21A0005: C-GJZA, a de Havilland DHC-8-402 operated by Jazz, was conducting flight JZA8991 from St John’s, NL (CYYT) to Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ). While in the climb through 10,000 feet, the flight attendant noticed white smoke coming from the floor at Row 19 on the left-hand side, which had an oily smell. The flight crew was notified immediately and the decision was made to return to CYYT. Within a short time, the smoke disappeared. The flight landed with no further incident. Prior to departure from CYYT, due to winter conditions, the aircraft was de-iced with Type 4 fluid. Maintenance inspected the aircrafts auxiliary power unit (APU) and engine bleed system, and determined that the fumes were from the de-ice fluid. The aircraft was released back into service.

A Newfoundland and Labrador Air Ambulance Service Beech B300C (C-GNLO) from Deer Lake, NL (CYDF) to Gander, NL (CYQX) executed a missed approach due to a landing gear issue. The aircraft advised that the issue was resolved and requested a diversion to St. Johns, NL (CYYT). Subsequently, the aircraft declared an emergency and landed without incident in CYYT. No impact on operations.
UPDATE: TSB Report #A21A0003: C-GNLO, a Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Beech B300C, was conducting a flight from Deer Lake, NL (CYDF) to Gander, NL (CYQX). On approach to CYQX, the landing gear was selected "down" but the crew did not receive a "left-hand main landing gear down" green indication. The crew cancelled their IFR clearance, carried out the checklist items, and consulted with their maintenance department. It was decided to divert to St. Johns, NL (CYYT), where an emergency was declared in order to have emergency services standing by as a precaution. The aircraft landed at CYYT without further incident. A faulty "left-hand main landing gear down" indication lamp was replaced, and the aircraft was returned to service following operational checks.
