An Air Transat Airbus A310-304 (C-GTSY/TSC253) from Malaga, Spain (LEMG) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) declared an emergency due to a flap problem. The aircraft did not request assistance, and it landed without incident at 1735Z. A runway inspection was performed. Impact: An Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319-114 (C-GBHR/ROU1581) from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) to Vancouver Intl, BC (CYVR) and an Air Canada Airbus A320-211 (C-FDCA/ACA321) from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) to Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) were delayed slightly at takeoff.
Update TSB Report #A19Q0170: C-GTSY, an Air Transat Airbus 310-304 (TSC253) with 9 crew members and 237 passengers on board, was on an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight from Malaga/Costa Del Sol, Spain (LEMG) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl, QC (CYUL). When flap position 15/15 was selected on approach for Runway 24L at CYUL, the flight crew received a Flaps Stuck message on the Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitor (ECAM). The applicable checklist was completed and a PAN PAN was reported to air traffic services. The aircraft continued the approach and landed without a problem. After it had cleared the runway, the temperature of the brakes rapidly increased. With the help of fans, the brakes were cooled and the aircraft then taxied up the passenger bridge.

Incident at MONTRÉAL / PIERRE ELLIOTT TRUDEAU INTL QC (CYUL) (ATM - other)

After having received take-off clearance for Runway 24L, a WestJet Boeing 737-700 (WJA217) from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) received instruction from the tower to reject its takeoff in order to avoid crossing into wake turbulence from the preceding departure, a heavy aircraft. WJA217 took exit LIMA and took off at 2220Z.
UPDATE from National Flight Operations: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. Captains report stated that on take-off roll, FO called 80 knots, both pilots heard the controller talking but did not register immediately that the controller was talking to them. The controller instructed the pilots to abort takeoff. One pilot verbalized "abort", and both pilots were unaware of why they were aborting and the threat. Pilot scanned for other traffic in the area while aborting. The aircraft rejected the takeoff at approximately 90 knots, and exited Runway 24L YUL at A2. No issues with the reject. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (AFRR) unit was not called. The aircraft sat on A2 and the pilots did an after landing flow and checklist. The pilots issued a PA to the guests and checked that the flight attendants (FAs) were okay. Then the pilots did a before start flow and after start flow and checklist. They considered brake cooling and fuel requirements. They then taxied for departure from Runway 24L again. ATC had informed them that they did not allow for enough wake separation from the heavy in front and that the aircraft would have hit the wake.

An Air Canada Airbus A320 (ACA326) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) and a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-301 (JZA8754) from Val-dOr, QC (CYVO) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) were redirected to Runway 24R. After an inspection, no FOD was found. Runway 24L reopened at 2257Z.

An Air Canada Airbus A320-214 (C-FXCD/ACA316) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Montreal/Trudeau, QC (CYUL) was instructed to reject its approach to allow ENY3368, whose situation was deemed a priority by air traffic services (ATS), to land with priority. ENY3368 landed on Runway 06R at 1747Z.
TSB Update #A19Q0045: N826AE, an Envoy Air Embraer EMB-135KL, was on instrument flight rules (IFR) flight ENY3368 from New York/LaGuardia, NY (KLGA) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) with 3 crew members and 41 passengers on board. During the final approach for Runway 06R at CYUL, ATC instructed the flight crew to conduct a pull-up because of the presence of an aircraft still on the runway after landing due to slippery conditions. ENY3368 declared an emergency and requested priority landing due to low fuel and to rapidly worsening weather conditions. The aircraft returned and landed without incident on Runway 06R. No one was injured.

Aviation Incident Report #16428: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) showed up to the departure unannounced of a WestJet Boeing 737-8CT (C-GWBL) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Calgary, AB (CYYC). The RCMP removed a passenger from the aircraft as they were deemed unfit to fly.

A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GKWE/WEN3208) on a flight from Kamloops, BC (CYKA) to Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) commenced take-off roll Runway 09 and then rejected the take-off approximately 10 seconds later at 1414Z. No impact to operations.
UPDATE from Flight Operations: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. At approximately 40 knots, the crew observed an amber caution light and rejected the take-off. After consulting with maintenance, they taxied back to the gate.

Incident at FORT NELSON BC (CYYE)

A Qwest Helicopters Aerospatiale AS 350 BA (C-FMSZ) on a flight from Fort Nelson, BC (CYYE) to Fort Nelson, BC (CYYE) was performing autorotation circuits on Runway 22 when a Kenn Borek Air Ltd. Beech 1900D (KBA901) on a flight from Fort Nelson, BC (CYYE) to Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) called for clearance and advisory off of Runway 04. C-FMSZ called to declare intentions to swap to Runway 04, traffic advisory was then given to KBA901. Traffic was then passed to C-FMSZ who indicated that the departing KBA901 would have time to backtrack to Runway 04 and depart, and they would come in behind. C-FMSZ then declared they would perform autorotation Runway 04 towards the threshold of Runway 22. KBA901 asked if it would be easier if they held their position near the threshold of Runway 04 while C-FMSZ performed its autorotation. As the flight service station (FSS) relayed the question to C-FMSZ, the pilot went ahead with the autorotation anyway.

Incident at PENTICTON BC (CYYF)

Aviation incident report #16312: Passenger was very angry when they found out their ticket had been cancelled for a WestJet Encore Ltd. de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GWEQ/WEN3280) from Penticton, BC (CYYF) to Calgary, AB (CYYC), as they had not shown up for the original flight. They paid to book new ticket on flight. Walking away from the ticket counter, the passenger said they wished "we would all go boom, and the airport and WestJet would disappear". Customer Service agents escalated to airport security. The passenger got to the gate and continued making threats. Captain was advised and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) unit was called. Boarding was delayed while waiting for the RCMP. RCMP escorted passenger out of the airport.

Incident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR) (Bird presence)

An Air Canada Airbus A320-214 (C-GKOD/ACA225) on a flight from Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) to Vancouver Intl, BC (CYVR) flew a missed approach Runway 08L due to encountering a flock of birds one mile from touchdown. The aircraft was vectored for a 2nd approach and landed Runway 26R without further incident at 0432Z.

Incident at Kelowna

A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (WEN3343) on a flight from Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) reported a medical emergency and requested clearance for Runway 16 (Runway 34 was active). Tower approved Runway 16 and an ambulance was called as requested. The aircraft landed safely at 2317Z.

A WestJet Encore Ltd. de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-FENO/WEN3375) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) reported picking up an emergency locator transmitter (ELT) signal 9NM North of the field, on approach to Runway 16 at 4500 feet. Signal strength 2. Area Control Centre (ACC) and Victoria Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) notified.

Incident at TERRACE BC (CYXT)

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GGCI/JZA8341) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Terrace, BC (CYXT) executed a missed approach for Runway 33 due to unfavourable wind. No impact on operations.
