A Morningstar Air Express Boeing 757-2B7 (C-FMOC/MAL7054) from Greater Moncton/Romeo Leblanc Intl, MB (CYQM) to Montreal/Mirabel Intl, QC (CYMX), level at 3000 feet, advised the air traffic controller (ATC) of a resolution advisory for traffic, a Cargair Ltee Cessna 152 (C-GAIA) from Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) to Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU), at 3500 feet, in sight. Traffic was exchanged, both aircraft had each other in sight. No impact to operations.

A WestJet Encore Ltd. de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GPWE/WEN3441) from Greater Moncton/Romeo Leblanc Intl, NB (CYQM) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) declared PAN PAN with Boston Centre due to a loss of the hydraulic system. The aircraft then requested to be redirected to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) and requested the services of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF). The aircraft landed on Runway 06R at 1153Z without incident. Runway 06R was closed from 1153Z to 1210Z. Impact: a few departures were delayed.
UPDATE: TSB Report #A20Q0004: C-GPWE, a WestJet Encore de Havilland, Dash-8 Q400 (WEN3441), was on an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight from Moncton/Greater Moncton Intl., NB (CYQM) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) with 66 passengers and 4 crew members on board. While the aircraft was in cruising flight approximately 175 nautical miles east of Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL), a loss of hydraulic fluid in system number 1 occurred. The crew diverted to CYUL and declared an emergency, and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) services were deployed. The aircraft landed on Runway 06R without incident. There were no injuries or damage to the aircraft.

TSB Report #A20O0084: C-GWUE, a Bombardier DHC-8-402 aircraft operating as WestJet Encore flight WEN3456, departed Toronto LBPIA (CYYZ), ON, for Moncton (CYQM), NB. While en route, the flight crew received a flap power caution light and elected to return to CYYZ. The flight crew declared an emergency as a precaution. The aircraft landed without further incident. Maintenance inspected the aircraft and could find no faults with the system. Maintenance suspects the that L7 Flap Control circuit breaker may have been inadvertently pulled by a headphone cord. The aircraft was returned to service.
UPDATE: AOR 267104-V2: The pilot of a WestJet Encore Ltd. de Havilland DHC-8-402 (WEN3456) from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Moncton, NB (CYQM) declared an emergency. WEN3456 landed on Runway 23 at CYYZ without incident at 1839Z. No operational impact.

Incident at OTTAWA / MACDONALD-CARTIER INTL ON (CYOW)

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-311 (C-FADF/JZA8851) from Greater Moncton/Romeo LeBlanc, NB (CYQM) to Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier, ON (CYOW) declared an emergency due to a landing gear problem. Emergency vehicles were deployed. The aircraft landed without incident at 1830Z. A runway inspection was carried out and nothing unusual was discovered. No impact on operations.
Update TSB Report #A20O0023: C-FADF, a De Havilland DHC-8-300 flight 8851 operated by Jazz Aviation LP, was on approach to Ottawa/Macdonald–Cartier Intl. (CYOW), ON; when the flight crew selected the landing gear down, they received a nosewheel red advisory light with an associated amber door light. The flight crew aborted the approach and followed the QRH procedures which did not rectify the fault. The crew subsequently declared an emergency and on the following approach as flaps were selected to 35 degrees, the nose landing gear extended and locked in the down position. The aircraft proceeded to land uneventfully with aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) standing by and came to a stop on the runway. Maintenance crew safetied the landing gear before towing the aircraft to the gate where passengers deplaned. Maintenance found the nose gear oleo strut was flat with no extension visible. There was no damage to the aircraft.
UPDATE Duplicate AOR-265558-V1: At 1710Z, JZA8851 conducted an overshoot of Runway 25 at Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier, ON (CYOW) due to an unsafe landing gear indication. JZA8851 landed safely at 1831Z. (Duplicate AOR-265558-V1 deleted after information merged)

The vehicle proceeded onto A and onto Runway 29 at the threshold, and continued to D. There was no other traffic at the time and no impact.

UPDATE from operator: Due to low altitude and continuous strikes, the pilots were able to determine the source of the laser. Using Google Maps, it appears to have come from one of the residential homes along "Chemin Lovers Lane" in Cocagne, NB. The global positioning system (GPS) coordinates were reported to Moncton Tower on frequency, along with additional information a few minutes after the incident.

The laser spread out over the canopy window at a 45-degree angle from the ground. At the time of the laser strike, a student was under the hood and the instructor was supervising and looking out for traffic. The illumination caused sporadic interruptions during the event. at 300ft, for 10 minutes. No effect on the pilots.
