The aircraft was 21NM East of CYND, at 2000 feet. They confirmed they were on approach for a full stop landing on Runway 09 and that they would join the left downwind. At 0211Z, on final for Runway 27, a privately registered Mooney M20C from St-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, QC (CSB3) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) declared MAYDAY MAYDAY due to loss of engine power. The aircraft immediately came back and said it was a false alarm. The pilot confirmed having fuel reserves, engine power and control of the aircraft.
