An Académie Aéronautique Cessna 172N (C-GYBV) from Montreal/Mirabel Intl, QC (CYMX) to Montreal/Mirabel Intl (CYMX), QC, entered the Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl, QC (CYUL) zone without authorization. Another VFR flight had their route modified in order to maintain spacing. No loss of separation.

Incident at 4NM SW MONTRÉAL INTL (MIRABEL) QC (CYMX)

A privately registered Bellanca 7ECA on a flight to St-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, QC (CSB3) departed St-Benoit-de-Mirabel without authorization from the air traffic controller (ATC). The aircraft conflicted with a privately registered, amateur-built, Vans RV-4 that was descending toward St-Benoit. No impact.

An Académie Aéronautique Cessna 172N (C-GYBV) from Montreal/Mirabel Intl, QC (CYMX) to Montreal/Mirabel Intl, QC (CYMX) was instructed to turn base for Runway 24. Upon answering, the aircrafts push-to-talk (PTT) stayed stuck down, blocking all the tower and ground frequencies. The aircraft landed without authorization on Runway 24 at 1916Z. No impact to operations.

An emergency locator transmitter (ELT) signal was heard by an aircraft at 3000 feet. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton (TR) was advised. The JRCC later confirmed that the signal was from an aircraft in a hangar at Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU).

While landing on Runway 24, a Morningstar Air Express Aerospatiale ATR 72-202 (C-FTAR/MAL7069) from Quebec/Jean Lesage, QC (CYQB) to Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX) reported a bird strike. The airport duty manager (ADM) was advised. The runway was inspected and a buzzard carcass was found. Impact: the runway was not available between 2330Z and 2350Z.

Académie Aéronautique advised that after the flight of an Académie Aéronautique Cessna 172N (C-GIGW) from Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX) to Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX), it was noticed that pieces were missing from the pitot (two pieces of metal about two to three inches). Runway 06/24 was closed from 1655Z to 1710Z for inspection. No parts were found. Impact: delay of less than 5 minutes for two departing VFR aircraft.

Incident at In the vicinity of: LACHUTE QC (CSE4)

At 1413Z, a call came from an individual (a pilot) who reported having seen and heard a Cessna type aircraft (C150 or C172) that seemed to be having trouble with its engine and was heading south, either to Lachute, QC (CSE4) or Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX). The person was approximately 38 km north of CSE4. The Area Control Centre (ACC) shift manager was notified. Around 1445Z, the ACC shift manager confirmed that an Aéroclub Gatineau Ottawa Inc. Cessna 150M (C-GEEH) from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Mont-Joli, QC (CYYY) had an engine failure and landed without damage at CSE4.

At Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX), a vehicle (SV352+A+1) was towing an Airbus A343 (HFM564P) from the industrial terminal to the main terminal. The driver of SV352 communicated with the tower by telephone and was instructed to hold short of Taxiway H. This was due to a F18 that was taxiing on H. Once the F18 passed in front of them, SV652+A+1 taxied on Taxiways H and I without authorization or communication with the ground controller. Once on Taxiway I, the vehicle and controller were in contact. No impact.

Aviation Incident Report: At Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX), the pilot of a Federal Express Corporation McDonnell Douglas MD-10-30F (N320FE/FDX130) from Memphis, TN (KMEM) to Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX) noticed scratches on their landing gear tires. The plane was not delayed and continued on its way. The airport was notified and the firefighters later arrived on scene to investigate. The investigation found 6 broken lights along the runway at B5 East that may have contributed to the scratches. The lights are now being fixed and the debris cleared.

At the fixed point on the de-icing bay, the pilot of an Académie Aéronautique Inc.
