A Pascan British Aerospace Jetstream Model 3212 (PSC485) from Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) to Quebec/Jean Lesage, QC (CYQB) was cleared to 6000 feet and was observed descending through 5400 feet. Air traffic services (ATS) instructed the aircraft to stop its descent at 5000 feet and inquired. PSC485 concurred they were cleared to 6000 feet only. No impact on operations.

The terminal control unit (TCU) controller called on the direct line to cancel the validation, but the aircraft had already begun its take-off run. The TCU asked the tower to instruct the aircraft to reject its takeoff, which it did. No other impact.

Accident at TROIS-RIVIÈRES QC (CYRQ) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

The manager of the Trois-Rivières, QC (CYRQ) airport informed the Quebec flight information centre (FIC) that there had been a crash at the side of the runway. A Cargair Ltd. Piper PA-23-250 (C-GDUL) from Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) to Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) conducted a training approach followed by a runway excursion and caught fire. Firefighters were at the scene and intervened quickly. The airport was closed by NOTAM until 2000Z, and a Visajet Ltd. aircraft (VJT744) was redirected to Montreal/Trudeau, QC (CYUL).
TSB Update #A19Q0091: a Cargair Piper PA-23-250 Aztec (C-GDUL) was on a visual flight rules (VFR) night flight from Montreal/Saint-Hubert, QC (CYHU) with 1 pilot and 1 passenger on board. According to the flight plan that was filed, an approach with a pull-up was expected at Quebec/Jean Lesage, QC (CYQB) and Trois-Rivières, QC (CYRQ) before returning to CYHU. During the approach for CYRQ, the pilot modified his intentions and conducted a touch-and-go. At takeoff,the aircraft skidded to the left and crashed at the edge of the runway. The occupants were injured, but they managed to exit the aircraft quickly before being looked after by emergency services that had already arrived at the scene, at the request of another aircraft. A post-impact fire destroyed the aircraft.

Around 1905Z, a Publicite Aero-Gramme Inc. Piper PA-18 (C-FHNK) from Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) to Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) at departure from Runway 24R lost two hooks while attempting to hook up its banner. The pilot found one of the hooks. Runway 24R was closed for an inspection. An arriving IFR aircraft had to reject its approach for Runway 06R. The inspection was conducted, the hook was found, and the runway reopened around 2010Z.

Incident at MONTRÉAL / ST-HUBERT QC (CYHU) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

An École de pilotage Saint-Hubert Inc. Cessna 172M (C-GDDK), whose provenance and destination are unknown, was on Runway 10, short of Runway 06D, waiting to cross so that it could get onto Tango. After it had received clearance to cross, the aircraft seemed to bounce several times while taxiing on the threshold of Runway 06D. After verification, the pilot confirmed that his aircraft was on the grass and that he was a bit lost. The controller vectored the pilot so that he could get back to the manoeuvring area, and the aircraft returned to the club successfully. All traffic was directed to Runway 24D for the duration of the inspection of Runway 06D, which was conducted at 0315Z.

An Association Récréative Cessna 177B C-GBZY (C-GLRI) from St-Jean, QC (CYJN) to Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) took off from CYJN at 2208Z and headed to CYHU, passing by St-Paul and the Bassin de Chambly. It left the control zone in the south and was instructed to go onto the frequency en route. At 2225Z, C-GLRI went back and crossed the CYJN control zone from south to north without communicating with the tower. The tower unsuccessfully attempted to establish communication on tower frequency and on the en route frequency. The tower notified the CYHU tower. No impact on operations.
