Swearingen SA227-AT (C-GTTM/CA8057) from Kelowna, BC (CYLW) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) when descending through 7300ft. WEN3255 climbed 300ft and then proceeded on course for their arrival once the conflict was resolved. WEN3255 was passed traffic.

An Air Inuit Ltd. Boeing 737-33A (C-GFFN/AIE730) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Abbotsford, BC (CYXX), on the Hope 3 arrival into CYXX, deviated on two separate waypoints. Aircraft was instructed to cross KEKPO intersection at 9000 feet, as per the published standard terminal arrival (STAR) procedure. The aircraft was observed crossing KEKPO intersection at 8000 feet. Subsequently, the aircraft was cleared to 6000 feet and was observed descending to 5000 feet at the VOGAD intersection. No operational impact.

Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-GGUK) from Pitt Meadows, BC (CYPK) to Pitt Meadows, BC (CYPK), that was in the vicinity. C-GGUK had WSW200 in sight. No operational impact.

Incident at FORT ST. JOHN BC (CYXJ)

At 0048Z, the pilot of an Airco Aircraft Charters Ltd. Beech 100 (AR147B) from Fort St. John, BC (CYXJ) to Edmonton, AB (CYEG) rejected their takeoff from Runway 12 and advised they would be turning around to the threshold to try again. Upon reaching the threshold, they advised they would return to the main apron. Air traffic control (ATC) advised at 0050Z, clearance cancelled at 0051Z. Halfway to the apron, the pilot of AR147B said they were ready to take-off again. Clearance was re-issued at 0053Z and AR147B successfully departed at 0055Z.

Cessna 172S (C-GPWR) from Kelowna, BC (CYLW) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW), operating VFR, 10 miles Southeast in uncontrolled airspace. Traffic was passed to C-GPWR who reported the WJA205 in sight. WJA205 was not yet on tower frequency. WJA205 then checked in and reported the C-GPWR in sight on initial contact.

Accident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR) (FOD (foreign object debris))

A WestJet Boeing 737-76N (C-FZWS/WJA717) from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR) that was waiting to park at Gate 15 reported foreign object debris (FOD) on the apron near Gate 13 where a WestJet Boeing 737-6CT (C-GWJU/WJA141) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR) was parking. Reported to Vancouver Airport Authority (YVRAA) and upon inspection the FOD was determined to originate from WJA141 colliding with WJA717 while passing on the apron. No operational impact.
UPDATE TSB Report #A20P0011: C-GWJU, a Boeing 737-600 aircraft operated by WestJet, was conducting flight WJA141 from Edmonton Intl (CYEG), AB to Vancouver Intl (CYVR), BC with 5 crew and 80 passengers on board. The flight crew stopped short of the lead-in line for gate B15, with engines running, awaiting ground crew to marshal the aircraft to the gate. C-FZWS, a Boeing 737-700 aircraft operated by WestJet, was conducting flight WJA717 from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl (CYYZ), ON to CYVR with 5 crew and 87 passengers on board. This aircraft was taxing eastbound on the apron towards the lead-in line for gate B13, when the left winglet contacted the right-hand horizontal stabilizer of C-GWJU. There were no injuries. Both aircraft sustained substantial damage.
UPDATE from Airworthiness: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. Flight crew of WJA717 reported to the Maintenance Control Centre (MCC) that the left wingtip contacted the right hand stabilizer upon taxiing to the gate. Maintenance inspected Left-Hand (L/H) winglet and found damage. Winglet strike inspection carried out in accordance with aircraft maitenance manual (AMM). Due to winglet strike, a "Non-Destructive Testing" (NDT) (eddy current) examination was carried out as per the Boeing 737 AMM and no crack indications were noted. Maintenance replaced winglet in accordance with AMM. Maintenance applied aerodynamic smoother to upper surface of L/H winglet in accordance with AMM. Aircraft returned to service on. Aircraft has flown 171 cycles since the occurrence with no further related issues.

On initial contact, a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (JZA8190) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Kamloops, BC (CYKA) departing CYVR was cleared to 16 000 feet and vectored northbound. This put the aircraft in conflict with two inbound aircraft on the standard terminal arrival (STAR) descending to 10 000 feet: an Air Canada Airbus A319 (ACA233) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR), and a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (JZA8189) from Kamloops, BC (CYKA) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR). The aircraft queried the controller about the clearance after the controller passed traffic to the aircraft. The controller re-cleared the departure to 9 000 feet. No impact to operations.

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (JZA8086) on a flight from Victoria Intl, BC (CYYJ) to Vancouver Intl, BC (CYVR) landing ahead was told to exit M4 which confused the pilot who was trying to exit M1, which is the taxiway the controller meant to say. JZA8086 missed M1 and exited M3. Due to extra time needed to exit, FLE102 was issued the missed approach.

The pilot of a Cargojet Airways Boeing 767-200 (CTJ574) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Hamilton, ON (CYHM) reported a green laser strike in the cockpit as they turned final over MUXIG. The aircraft overflew the origin of the laser, in the vicinity of Kennilworth and Barton street. The aircraft landed without further incident. The event was reported to local police.

A WestJet Boeing 737-700 (WJA441) from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Edmonton, AB (CYEG) crossed the hold short line on Taxiway Bravo, north of Hotel. A Flair Airlines Boeing 737-800 (FLE224) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) on final approach for Runway 23 was instructed to go around. No further impact to operations.
UPDATE from Flight Operations: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. While WJA441 was taxiing for Runway 23 via B, the aircraft appeared to cross the hold short line for Runway 23 by 2-3 feet. The taxi clearance for Runway 23 instructed ”Taxi AK-B-H for Runway 23". This is a non-standard taxi for that runway. WJA441 was briefed that it was a non-standard taxi route and the First Officer (FO) acknowledged. As the aircraft taxied on B, they missed the turn onto H. The captain believed they had crossed the hold short. A review of all data with Nav Canada and the Airport Authority confirms they had not.

Delayed entry as a result of NAV CANADA safety and evaluation quality assurance (QA) review: A Canadian North Inc. Boeing 737-200 (MPE244) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Yellowknife, NT (CYZF) was inbound for Runway 34. At 1613Z, MPE244 called the tower and requested to be met by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for a passenger who was harassing another passenger. The tower advised the RCMP and instructed the firehall to meet the RCMP at the security gate, so that both units could meet MPE244 on the apron. At 1633Z, MPE244 landed safely and was met by the RCMP and an airport vehicle (RED1). No further impact to operations.

Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

A Canadian North Inc. Boeing 737-300 (MPE1500) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) reported a possible bird strike upon landing Runway 35L. A subsequent runway inspection found nothing. No impact to operations.
