at 3 NM S LACOMBE AB (CEG3)
A18W0090: C-GVFW, the Namao Flying Club Cessna 172M, was on a student pilot solo cross country flight from Villeneuve (CZVL), to Drayton Valley (CER3), to Red Deer (CYQF), and back to CZVL. At some point on the first leg of the trip the student pilot lost bearings. After flying for over two hours the student pilot landed in a tilled field some 6 miles south of Lacombe, Alberta. There was no damage to the aircraft. The emergency locator beacon did not activate and there were no injuries. Once on the ground, the student pilot used a cell phone to call the flying club. The chief flight instructor along with an aircraft maintenance engineer responded and retrieved the aircraft and student pilot.
Edmonton/Villeneuve, AB (CZVL) flight school advised that a Namao Flying Club Cessna 172M (C-GVFW) on a flight from Edmonton/Villeneuve, AB (CZVL) and landing at Edmonton/Villeneuve, AB (CZVL) landed in a farm field 13NM Northeast of Red Deer, AB (CYQF) (near Blackfalds) due to wind. No reported injuries, or damage to aircraft or farm. No operational impact.
