Pilatus PC-12 (PN0782) from Inukjuak, QC (CYPH) to Montréal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) while descending to intercept final Runway 24L notified of a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) alert with a primary target and deviated to the right. The aircraft landed safely at 2327Z. No impact on operations. No loss of separation.

No loss of separation and no other impact on operations.

Incident at 12NM MANIWAKI QC (YMW) NDB

A WestJet Boeing 737-7CT (C-FWSF/WJA214) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) was cleared to FL310 with a correct read back. WJA214 was informed of traffic at FL300. WJA214 reported having the traffic in sight. At FL314, with a descent rate of around 2900/minute, WJA214 advised air traffic control (ATC) of a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) and climbed a few hundred feet. The other aircraft in the vicinity was a Japan Airlines Boeing 787-9 (JA865J/JAL7) from Boston, MA (KBOS) to Tokyo/Narita Intl, Japan (RJAA). After crossing traffic, WJA214 was observed descending below FL310. No impact.

A Cargair Cessna 152 (C-FRUC) from Montreal/Saint-Hubert, QC (CYHU) to Montreal/Saint-Hubert, QC (CYHU) was on base for Runway 06R. Air traffic services (ATS) passed the traffic information along to the two aircraft. Despite this, PSC582 received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system resolution advisory (TCAS RA) and decided to pull up. No loss of separation and no other impact on operations.

A traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) event occurred over the Prince George (XS) area. An Ootsa Air Ltd. Piper PA-31-325 (C-GLRR) from Prince George, BC (CYXS) to Tsay Keh, BC (CBN9) was climbing without monitoring the frequency. An Air North Charter & Training Ltd. Boeing 737-500 (ANT474) from Watson Lake, YT (CYQH) to Prince George, BC (CYXS) was provided instruction to not descend below 12000ft. The TCAS RA and corrective actions were implemented. CRN611 continued on right base and landed Runway 16. Two-way traffic had been passed. No operational impact.

At Terrace, BC (CYXT), a Summit Helicopters Bell 407 (C-GCVJ) was holding west of the threshold of Runway 15, waiting for visual sighting of a WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-FIWE/WEN3105) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Terrace, BC (CYXT) on final before crossing Runway 15/33. Traffic had been passed to both C-GCVJ and WEN3105, and both acknowledged. C-GCVJ and WEN3105 reported visual sighting of each other. After landing, WEN3105 said they received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS)/airborne collision avoidance system (ACAS) resolution advisory (RA) from C-GCVJ.

During descent into KGYR, flight crew received TCAS RA “DESCEND” and “LEVEL OFF” warnings due to other local traffic. Standard operating procedures were applied and no cleared altitudes were deviated. ATC was notified and the flight landed without further incident.

TSB Report #A20F0074: C-GTSO, an Airbus A330 was operating Air Transat flight TSC560 from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl. (CYUL), QB, to Cancun Intl. (MMUN), Mexico. While on cruise FL400 60NM north of PSK VOR, the flight crew initially received a TCAS TA (traffic advisory) caused by an opposite traffic followed 10 seconds later by a TCAS RA (resolution advisory) climb. Flight crew climbed to 40700 feet and later descended back to FL400 after receiving clear of conflict message and completed TCAS company procedures.

TSB Report #A20F0064: C-GLCA, an Air Canada Boeing 767-300, was conducting flight AC984 from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl. (CYYZ), ON to Cancun Intl. (MMUN), Mexico. During climb, flight crew experienced a TCAS RA “Level off level off”. RA (resolution advisory) was actioned by flight crew. Flight continued without further incident.

Incident at CORKK intersection

TSB Report #A20F0055: C-GAQX an Airbus A319-114 flight AC574 operated by Air Canada from Vancouver Intl. Airport (CYVR) BC to San Francisco Intl. Airport (KSFO) CA, experienced a TCAS RA at waypoint CORKK, on approach for KSFO. The crew had a visual on traffic and climbed 1000 feet, and advised ATC. Continuing with the approach, the aircraft was high and fast, causing a missed approach to be carried out, resulting in a flap overspeed of 5-10 knots. The aircraft landed in SFO without further incident.

Incident at San Francisco Intl, CA (KSFO)

TSB Report #A20F0059: C-FIVS, a Boeing 777-300 operated by Air Canada, was conducting flight AC737 Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl. (CYYZ), ON to San Francisco Intl. (KSFO), CA. During the approach, flight crew levelled at 6000’ on vectors for FMS bridge visual to TRDOW. A TCAS TA (traffic advisory) for traffic at 6500 was received and ATC advised to descend. Flight was down through 5000 when they received TCAS RA (resolution advisory), flight 400 above. No action taken as traffic was already in descent and meeting what the RA was advising. Flight continued without further incident.

TSB Report #A20F0041: C-GBHM, an Airbus A-319 aircraft operated by Air Canada, was conducting flight AC1046 from Vancouver Intl (CYVR) BC, to Palm Springs Intl(KPSP), CA with 5 crew members and 113 passengers on board. While descending, the flight crew received a TCAS RA. The flight crew complied with the RA and continued to destination without further incident.

Incident at Orlando Int'l, FL (KMCO)

TSB Report #A20F0022: C-GEZJ, an Air Transat Airbus 321-200, was operating as flight TS939 from Orlando Intl. (KMCO), FL to Montréal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau (CYUL), QC. On departure out of MCO, on radar vectors, the Flight crew were initially given a heading of 030, then instructed to turn left heading 310. As they were passing 7000 ft they received a TCAS RA (resolution advisory) telling them to maintain vertical speed, which was 3000 ft/min. Flight crew complied and flight landed in CYUL uneventfully.

Incident at 135NM E Las Vegas/McCarran Int'l, NV (KLAS)

TSB Report #A20F0010: C-GWVB, a Sunwing Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft, was operating as flight SWG569 from Calgary Intl (CYYC), AB to General Mazatlán/Rafael Buelna Intl (MMMZ). At FL330, approximately 135 nm east of Las Vegas/Mc Carran Intl (KLAS), NV a TCAS RA DESCEND DESCEND NOW was received. The flight crew complied with the command and descended until clear of conflict at FL325. The flight continued to the destination uneventfully.

Incident at 31NM EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)

A Canadian North Inc. Boeing 737-300 (MPE1749) from Fort Mackay, AB (CYNR) to Edmonton, AB (CYEG), in descent to 15 000ft, received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) with opposite direction traffic, an Air Tindi Beech 200 (TIN510) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Yellowknife, NT (CYZF) at 14 000ft. No impact on operations.

Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

The pilot of a Pacific Coastal Airlines Limited Saab 340B (PCO3042) from Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies, BC (CYXC) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) reported, after landing on Runway 35L, that they had a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) traffic advisory (TA) followed by a resolution advisory (RA) at 100 feet and landed safely. No other aircraft were in the vicinity on the NAV CANADA Auxiliary Radar Display System (NARDS) or the multilateration system (MLAT).
