Air traffic information was exchanged. No impact on operations.

The only other radar target close to PVL1910 was 1.1 NM south, at 2 900 ft.

Incident at 10NM SEPT-ÎLES QC (CYZV)

TSB Report #A19Q0165: A PAL Provincial Airlines DHC-8 was on flight PAL1901 from Wabush, TN (CYWK) to Sept-Îles, QC (CYZV). While in descent for its approach for CYZV, the flight crew had to perform an evasive manoeuvre after it had received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system resolution advisory (TCAS RA) concerning an unidentified target. The two aircraft passed within approximately 200 ft of each other. PAL1901 continued on its route and landed at CYZV without any problems. The other aircraft was a helicopter with a transport sling approximately 10 NM north of CYZV. The helicopter was not in radio communication with Sept-Îles.

Incident at 5022N / 06621W

A PAL Airlines de Havilland DHC-8-301 (PVL1901) reported that it had to gain altitude to avoid a target after it had received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system resolution advisory (TCAS RA) and that it came within 200 ft of the target. There was no radio contact with the target but it was seen on code 1200 in the sector. (10N Sept-Îles, QC (CYZV) at 2 000 ft). Another de Havilland DH8C also arriving from the north managed to notice a helicopter carrying a load in a sling.

Incident at DRUMMONDVILLE QC (CSC3)

After having been cleared by the controller to conduct its approach en route, an Aéroclub de Montréal Pilatus PC-12/45 (C-GSAG) received a traffic alert and collision reporting system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) due to a VFR target squawking 1200 without mode-c, which appeared on the radar after the air traffic controller (ATC) had cleared the approach. C-GSAG then indicated that it had levelled off at 5 000 ft in the clouds, thinking that the other aircraft was lower, and then made a second approach without incident.

Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) reported that it had reacted to a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) and had pulled up by 300 ft. The traffic was an aircraft on VFR above Île Perrot that was not in contact with the air traffic controller (ATC). ACA414 was notified of the traffic.

While inbound for Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL), a Sky Regional Airlines Embraer ERJ 170-200SU (SKV7728) from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX (KDFW) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) was level at 8 000 ft, while a Jazz Bombardier CL-600-2D24 (JZA8595) from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) to Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson, MB (CYWG) climbed to 7 000 ft. Once it was level at 7 000 ft, JZA8595 received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA), then climbed to 300 ft. Impact: separation was reduced to 2.3 NM and 700 ft. Traffic information was exchanged.

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GGBF/JZA8707) from Quebec/Jean Lesage, QC (CYQB) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) 6.5 NM on final for Runway 24L indicated that it had received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) alert at the same altitude at 2 NM on its left. The traffic was a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cessna 210 (BERN16) from Montreal/Saint-Hubert, QC (CYHU) to Montreal/Saint-Hubert, QC (CYHU) in the Ville-Marie circuit at 2 000 ft. No evasive measure was performed and there was no impact on operations.

Incident at MONTRÉAL / ST-HUBERT QC (CYHU)

TSB #A19Q0102: C-GCPW, a Pratt & Whitney Canada Dornier 328-300, was on an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight from Hartford-Springfield/Bradley Intl, CT (KBDL) to Montreal/Saint-Hubert, QC (CYHU). During the approach for CYHU, the aircraft was established on left base at 3 000 ft ASL with a heading of 330° under radar vector, to conduct a Runway 24R instrument landing system (ILS) approach. The crew was notified, by air traffic control (ATC), of the presence of unidentified traffic at an 11-oclock position, at an unknown altitude. The aircrafts on-board traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) confirmed the presence of a target approximately 3.5 NM ahead; the target was moving northeast on climb and at an altitude of approximately 2 700 ft. ATC instructed the crew to make a turn on a heading of 310°, followed by a second immediate instruction for a heading of 280°. The crew established visual contact with the traffic, which was located at approximately 1.5 NM, at the same altitude and continuing its climb. There was no alert or proximity warning from the TCAS system. The unidentified traffic crossed into CYHU controlled airspace without clearance and without any radio contact with ATC.

SWG650 reported a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) with a Cessna 210 (NORM10) from Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) to Montreal/St-Hubert, QC (CYHU) at 2050Z. Spacing reduced to 0.4NM and 600 ft.
Update TSB #A19Q0137: C-GBZS, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by Sunwing Airlines, was conducting flight SWG650 from Frank Pais Intl – Holguin, Cuba (MUHG) Montréal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl, QC (CYUL). While on approach for CYUL, the crew was cleared for an altitude of 5000 feet, and ATC advised of VFR traffic, a Cessna 210 (NORM10). The flight crew then received a TCAS resolution advisory (RA). Spacing was reduced to 0.4 nm horizontally and 600 feet vertically. The flight crew notified ATC and continued the approach without incident.

There were no other aircraft visible in the vicinity of JZA8215. No other aircraft were affected.

A WestJet Boeing 737-7CT (C-GWSU/WJA448) on a flight from Vancouver Intl, BC (CYVR) to Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson Intl, MB (CYWG) received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) while climbing through 1400ft. Only observed radar traffic was 600ft below them. No other aircraft were affected.

Incident at XX960 intersection

A Swoop Boeing 737-800 (WSW267) on a flight from Edmonton Intl, AB (CYEG) to Abbotsford, BC (CYXX) was cleared for the area navigation (RNAV) RNP25 approach and descending according to profile. Traffic observed on Canadian Automated Air Traffic System (CAATS) display by controller was passed to WSW267 along with suggestion to stop descent at 6,000 until clear of traffic. WSW267 climbed 200 in response to a resolution advisory (RA). Once by the traffic, WSW267 resumed descent with no other operational impact.

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GJZG/JZA8414) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) that was just turning on final received a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) on a Kelowna & District Flying Club American Aviation AA-5B (C-GVXY) from Kelowna, BC (CYLW) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) that was in the downwind for the circuit (CCT). Traffic was passed to both aircraft. C-GVXY had JZA8414 in sight, JZA8414 never saw C-GVXY. JZA8414 followed the RA, joined the CCT, and landed safely. No operational Impact.

A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GPWE/WEN3320) on a flight from Vancouver Intl, BC (CYVR) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) was VFR and had a traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) resolution advisory (RA) in reference to a The Kelowna & District Flying Club American Aviation AA-5B (C-GVXY) on a flight from Kelowna, BC (CYLW) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) in the left downwind Runway 16. WEN3320 conducted a go-around. Traffic had be passed to both aircraft and both aircraft had each other in sight. WEN3320 did a circuit and landed Runway 16. No impact on operations.
