UPDATE: TSB Report #A22Q0009: C-GJDA, an Airbus A330-243 operated by Air Transat, was conducting flight TSC038 from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) to Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées, France (LFBT). As the aircraft was climbing through flight level (FL) 330, the crew received a "FWD Cargo Smoke and Land ASAP" message from the Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring (ECAM) system. The crew carried out the ECAM procedures and returned to CYUL. No emergency was declared, but the aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) services were on standby. The aircraft landed without further incident. Maintenance inspected the forward and aft cargo hold and no evidence of smoke, or events that would have caused a smoke indication, were found. A faulty Smoke Detection Control Unit (SDCU) was suspected. Maintenance replaced the unit.
