Beech 1900C (SLQ761) from Quebec/Jean-Lesage, QC (CYQB) to Montreal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX) flew “PENTU direct URVAS,” while clearance was for “PENTU T616 URVAS.” The air traffic service (ATS) unit cleared SLQ761 for “direct APLAK” after departure from CYQB. SLQ761 mentioned that they did not have a fix on their route. The ATS finally sent SLQ761 “direct URVAS” after radar vectoring and coordination with the next sector.

On final for Runway 24, a Skylink Express Inc. Beech 1900C (C-GSKW/SLQ739) from Québec/Jean-Lesage, QC (CYQB) to Montréal/Mirabel, QC (CYMX) reported conducting a go-around due to a gear issue. SLQ739 finally landed safely at approximately 0146Z. Two VFR aircraft were slightly delayed for landing, allowing enough time to finish the runway inspection.

Aviation Incident Report #17285: An Air Inuit de Havilland DHC-8-314 (C-FIAI/AIE802) from Umiujaq, QC (CYMU) to Inukjuak, QC (CYPH) conducted a go-around on final Runway 25 due to a vehicle on the runway. When the driver noticed the aircraft about to land, they tried to get out quickly, but the crew preferred to conduct an overshoot and give the vehicle time to clear the runway. The universal communications (UNICOM) was not aware of the presence of the vehicle on the runway. The aircraft landed without further issue.

ATS changed CRQ922’s clearance for Runway 06R to allow ACA422 to continue its approach.

While clearing the runway for the arrival of 2 aircraft at 1430Z, a vehicle (GR153) reported that there was an 8-inch gravel swath in the centre of the runway. The 2 aircraft decided to make standby circuits to allow the operators to remove the windrow. An Air Inuit de Havilland DHC-8-300 (AIE802), from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) to Kuujjuarapik, QC (CYGW) decided to fly directly to their alternate airport after 30 minutes in the holding pattern. An Air Inuit de Havilland DHC-8-300 (AIE880), from La Grande-Rivière, QC (CYGL) to Kuujjuarapik, QC (CYGW) conducted their approach after a 40 minute hold.

NDL191 then returned downwind to once again intercept the final at 6 NM after descending to 2,600 ft and climbing back to 3,000 ft before getting back on final. No other impact.

Incident at SOKYE intersection

At 2140Z, a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (JZA8708) from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau, QC (CYUL) to Quebec/Jean Lesage, QC (CYQB) declared an emergency due to smoke in the cockpit. Emergency vehicles were deployed. The aircraft landed without incident at 2157Z. No impact on operations.
UPDATE from Airworthiness: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. After starting their descent, the flight crew noted an acrid smell in the cockpit and forward cabin, followed by visible smoke in the cockpit originating from the right windshield. The flight crew donned their oxygen masks and declared an emergency. The windshield heating system was turned off and the smoke dissipated. The aircraft landed without further incident. During troubleshooting, one of the electrical terminals was found to be loose, as an incorrect length fastener had been installed. The terminal and the fastener were replaced, the system was tested serviceable, and the aircraft was returned to service. No Continuing Airworthiness Web Information System (CAWIS) Service Difficulty Report (SDR) was submitted, as the event was related to Human Factors. A Safety Management System (SMS) Report (SMS-MNT-821) was submitted and is currently being investigated. The CASI will follow-up on the investigation and related corrective measures.
