Incident at J.A. DOUGLAS MCCURDY SYDNEY AIRPORT

A Provincial Aerospace Beech 200 (C-GEHS/SPR810) from Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ) to Sydney, NS (CYQY) conducted a missed approach to Runway 36 due to an unsafe nose gear indication. The pilot then contacted the Moncton Centre and subsequently picked up an IFR clearance back to CYHZ. Aircraft returned to CYHZ and declared an emergency at 1940Z. Aircraft landed safely at 2015Z. A Craftsman Construction Ltd. Beech 95-B55 (C-FDMD) from Saint John, NB (CYSJ) to Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ) was delayed by 10-15 minutes. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Halifax was advised. (Duplicate AOR 263988-V1 deleted after merging information)
Update TSB Report #A20A0017: C-GEHS, a Beech 200 aircraft operated by Provincial Aerospace, was conducting flight SPR810 from Halifax/Stanfield Intl, NS (CYHZ) to Sydney/J.A. Douglas McCurdy, NS (CYQY). During the approach to CYQY, the crew lowered the landing gear and noticed an unsafe nose gear condition. At approximately 15:07 AST, the crew conducted an overshoot and elected to return to CYHZ. The crew declared an emergency at 15:40 AST and ACC advised the Rescue Coordination Center and the CYHZ Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF). The aircraft landed uneventfully at 16:15 AST with ARFF standing by. One aircraft was delayed for approximately 15 minutes before it could land. Maintenance examined the aircraft NLG system and determined that the nose gear down lock switch had failed. They installed a new switch, completed several successful landing gear swings and returned the aircraft to service.

Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ) (Dangerous goods/hazardous materials, Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

The Terminal advised that an FAI Rent-a-Jet Learjet 60 (DCITA/IFA1183) from Reykjavik, Iceland (BIKF) to Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ) was inbound with a hydraulic problem/failure. The airport firehall and duty manager were advised. Aircraft landed on Runway 05 at 1256Z. Aircraft needed to be towed off the runway and was removed at 1324Z. Hydraulic fluid spill was cleaned and runway inspected and available at 1350Z. No impact on operations.
Update TSB Report #A20A0014: D-CITA, a Leajet 60 aircraft operated by FAI Aviation Group, was conducting flight IFA1183 from Keflavik Intl. (BIKF), Iceland, to Halifax/Stanfield Intl. (CYHZ), NS. The crew advised the area controller that they were inbound to CYHZ with a hydraulic system problem. Halifax tower advised the ARFF and they stood by while the aircraft landed uneventfully on Runway 05 at 09:56 ADT. It was not possible for the aircraft to taxi clear of the runway. It was towed off the runway and a hydraulic fluid spill was cleaned up. The runway was inspected and re-opened at 10:50 ADT. There was no impact on ATC operations. Maintenance determined that there was a loose B-Nut at the left hand pressure switch. Maintenance tightened the B-nut and replaced the pressure and return filters, and both engine driven hydraulic pumps. All hydraulic systems were tested and a landing gear retraction test was successfully completed. The aircraft was returned to service.

UPDATE AOR-263314-V3: JKR72 was cleared to FL290, pilot discretion, and advised next controller that aircraft was descending to 5000ft. No loss of separation or impact to operations.

UPDATE TSB Report #A20A0012: C-FMGC, a privately operated Beechcraft B200GT aircraft, was conducting a flight under instrument flight rules from Saint John Airport (CYSJ), NB to Halifax/Stanfield Intl (CYHZ), NS. On approach to CYHZ, the crew selected the landing gear down and the landing gear indication did not change, nor did it move from the up position. The crew conducted a missed approach and communicated the condition to CYHZ tower. The crew followed the QRH for landing gear failure and conducted a manual landing gear extension, which successfully lowered the gear. The crew then received landing clearance from CYHZ tower and requested that emergency services standby. The aircraft landed at CYHZ without further incident. Maintenance personnel replaced a to rectify the fault.

UPDATE TSB Report #A20A0010: G-FKJZ, an Bombardier CRJ-900 operated by Jazz Aviation LP, was conducting flight Air Canada Express JZA8783 from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, NS (CYHZ) to Montreal Trudeau International Airport, QC (CYUL). When the landing gear was selected up just after take-off, the crew received a gear disagree message and the gear did not retract. The crew referenced their QRH and discussed with maintenance control and a decision was made to return to CYHZ. The crew requested ARFF be placed on standby. The flight landed without any further incident and the aircraft taxied to the gate. Maintenance is currently assessing what was the cause of the disagreement message.
