Incident at RIMOUSKI QC (CYXK)

A privately registered, amateur-built Vans RV forgot to call back off the runway once on the ground at Rimouski, QC (CYXK). A CYXK attendant confirmed that the aircraft was on the ground and that it had exited the runway. When departing, the aircraft communicated its intentions on frequency 122.1 MHz, but did not establish contact with the flight service station (FSS). Once in the air, the aircraft established communication with Mont-Joli, QC (CYYY) radio (RDO) and confirmed that it was not receiving communications on the ground. No impact.

A privately registered Cessna 180C had an engine failure near Trois-Rivières, QC (CYRQ). The pilot tried to land in a field and their engine restarted. Pilot still landed on a grassy surface in the Mont-Carmel field as a precaution. No emergency declared. The aircraft was not damaged and its emergency locator transmitter (ELT) did not activate. Pilot had to check their aircraft before leaving. There was no impact on operations.

Incident at BAIE-COMEAU QC (CYBC)

Aviation Incident Report #17528: Around 1830Z, at Baie-Comeau, QC (CYBC), a Sky Jet M.G. Beech A100 (C-GJBV) from Baie-Comeau, QC (CYBC) to Quebec/Jean Lesage, QC (CYQB) established initial contact with Mont-Joli radio with a request to depart from Runway 28 to fly to CYQB. Mont-Joli radio reported that a Cessna on skis was doing circuits on a parallel track with snow and that the aircraft was on skis. Mont-Joli radio reported C-GJBVs position to the aircraft on skis and queried its intentions. After several queries, the aircraft on skis mentioned that it was going to climb and then exit from the centreline. Mont-Joli radio and C-GJBV were of the understanding that the Cessna would exit the centerline, so C-GJBV took the time to taxi up the runway and then took off. During takeoff, immediately after rotation, the Cessna began its turn in the crosswind. This aircraft was directly in C-GJBVs takeoff path, and there was no possibility for passing above. C-GJBV had to turn left and maintain a low altitude to fly under the aircraft.

C-GRDU, a Pascan Saab 340B operating as flight PSC311, was on an instrument flight rules flight from Mont-Joli, QC (CYYY) to Sept-Îles, QC (CYZV). Approximately 40 nautical miles (NM) southwest of CYZV, separation between C-GPAR and C-GRDU was reduced to 1.5 NM horizontally and 700 ft vertically, whereas the minimum required separation is 5 NM horizontally and 1000 ft vertically.

On short final for Runway 23, a Provincial Aerospace Beech B300 (C-FMUN/SPR755) from Mont-Joli, QC (CYYY) to Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ) advised the tower of an issue involving the right main landing gear indication and requested to conduct an overshoot and for the tower to check the gear visually. Gear appeared normal and the aircraft landed with "3 green" at 1722Z. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) unit was advised. No impact.

Bird strike reported by a Nolinor Aviation Boeing 737-4K5 (C-GGWF/NRL786) from Mont-Joli, QC (CYYY) to Wabush, NL (CYWK) after landing on Runway 36. Many small birds/snowbirds were in the vicinity of the airport. A vehicle inspection reported one bird carcass on the runway. A Propair Inc.
