Accident at BIRCH HILLS SK (CJD3) (Aerodrome - runway or taxiway surface condition)

TSB advised that the privately-registered Piper PA-28-140, FQIZ, was landing at Birch Hills, SK, after a local flight to Prince Albert for circuits. On landing, the left wheel encountered snow and the aircraft veered off the runway, where it struck a snowbank and overturned. There were no injuries and the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
While rolling out after landing on snow covered runway, the pilot of C-FQIZ, a Piper Cherokee, lost control of the aircraft. The aircraft flipped over, coming to rest upside down approximately 900 feet down Runway 27. The aircraft was not on a flight plan. Weather conditions were reported by the pilot to be VFR. Nearest observation was from Prince Albert 23/2200Z sky clear, winds 8 knots. TSB to update
