The flight service station (FSS) observed an Air Nunavut Beech B200 (C-FGXR/BFF203T) on a flight from Iqaluit, NU (CYFB) to Iqaluit, NU (CYFB) cross the air defence identification zone (ADIZ) at 1937Z on a track of 149 degrees, 52NM from CYFB. BFF203T was on a training VFR flight without a flight plan (FP). No known impact on operations.

Iqaluit flight service station (FSS) identified a VFR target entering the air defence identification zone (ADIZ) 70NM SSW of Iqaluit, NU (CYFB) on code 1200. FSS suspects the target to be a Heli-Inter Aerospatiale AS 350 B-2 (C-FHEI). FSS advised CZUL. No impact on operations.
UPDATE to aircraft information: The aircraft operator was changed from "Héli-Inter" to "Héli-Boréal".

Air traffic control (ATC) and Quebec, QC (CYQB) FIC contacted the flight service station (FSS) for flight information and update to Gander. No other known operational impact.

Incident at IGLOOLIK NU (CYGT) (Flight plan ? activation)

The VFR flight plan for an Exact Air Inc. Beech A100 (C-FLRB/ET839) departing from Igloolik, NU (CYGT) and arriving to Igloolik, NU (CYGT) was closed when the community aerodrome radio station (CARS) at CYGT called, despite the flight plan being a month-long air defence identification zone (ADIZ) flight plan. ET839 called to close flight plan and file IFR flight plan at 1031Z on September 7 and was surprised when it was already closed.

At 1808Z the Kamloops FIC received and VFR flight plan closure message from Prince Rupert AAS regarding an Inland Air Charters de Havilland DHC-2 MK I (C-FOSP) from Masset Waterdrome, BC (CBN4) arriving in Seal Cove/Prince Rupert Waterdrome, BC (CZSW). The FIC did not have a flight plan regarding this aircraft. Investigation found that the pilot did not file a DVFR flight plan to depart the air defence identification zone (ADIZ).

Incident at DORIS LAKE NU (CDL7)

On August 24th at 2341Z, the pilot of a Great Slave Helicopters Bell 206L-1 (C-FBFH) called North Bay, ON FIC to close their flight plan. No Active flight plan was on file. A flight plan for this aircraft had been closed on July 30th. After listening to digital voice logger (DVL) it was determined that previous crew of aircraft had called North Bay, ON FIC and closed their long term flight plan and were expecting relieving crew to re-file. No flight plan had been re-filed. As a result there was a loss of alerting service as well aircraft was operating in the air defence identification zone (ADIZ) without a flight plan.

Incident at Vicinity of Prince Rupert Airport (CYPR)

A Pal Aerospace Beech 200 (C-GGJF/ operating as SPR05) departed CYPR VFR at aprx 19:00Z Dec 19th, destined for a DVFR patrol inside the ADIZ and then returning to CYPR. At aprx 22:30Z SPR05 landed at CYPR and requested CYPR FSS close their flight plan. CYPR FSS called CYKA FIC to relay the closure. CYKA FIC had not received a DVFR flight plan on SPR05. Upon investigation, SPR's dispatch said they did fax it to the CYKA FIC. There is no record that the FIC received the faxed flight plan. Impact to operations, SPR05 entered the ADIZ without an active DVFR FP.
