Incident at ST. CATHARINES / NIAGARA DISTRICT ON (CYSN) (Incursion - runway - animal)

At St. Catharines/Niagara, ON (CYSN) wildlife was spotted crossing an active runway about 3500 feet beyond Threshold 06. Two aircraft were in the circuit. No impact to operations.

Incident at DRUMMONDVILLE QC (CSC3)

The emergency locator transmitter (ELT) of a Richcopter Inc. Cessma 150M (C-FTOD) was accidentally activated at Drummondville, QC (CSC3) between 1130Z and 1200Z. Shift manager advised.

Incident at ST-JEAN QC (CYJN)

A privately registered Lake LA-4-200 entered the St-Jean, QC (CYJN) control zone from the SE heading West without contacting the tower. The air traffic controller (ATC) was able to communicate with the aircraft on 126.7. No impact.

Incident at 15NM N MONTRÉAL INTL (MIRABEL) QC (CYMX)

Despite being authorized and correctly reading back 4000 feet, a Partner Jet Inc. British Aerospace HS125 series (C-GOHJ) from Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl, QC (CYUL) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl, QC (CYUL) was observed in descent through 2800 feet before air traffic controller (ATC) intervention. No impact.

Incident at FORT ST. JOHN BC (CYXJ)

After departure Runway 12, a WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GWEP/WEN3307) from Fort St. John, BC (CYXJ) to Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) reported a possible bird strike near the intersection. North Peace Airport Services (NPAS) advised. No remains found. No impact to the operation.

Incident at PRINCE GEORGE BC (CYXS)

A North Cariboo Flying Service Ltd, Beech 200 (C-FNNC/NCB912) from Prince George, BC (CYXS) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) taxied onto Runway 15 without clearance. Another aircraft on Runway 15 had previously landed, slowed to taxi speed, and was receiving exit instructions at the time of the incursion. No operational impact.

Incident at 80NM J.A. DOUGLAS MCCURDY SYDNEY AIRPORT (CYQY)

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GSJZ/JZA8862) from Halifax/Stanfield Intl, NS (CYHZ) to Gander Intl, NL (CYQX) advised they had a door indication problem and returned to CYHZ. No assistance required and no emergency declared. The aircraft landed at 1523Z.

The pilot of an Air North Charter & Training Ltd. Aerospatiale ATR 42-300 (ANT359) enroute from Dawson City, YT (CYDA) to Old Crow, YT (CYOC) reported a faint emergency locator transmitter (ELT) signal on 121.5. Source unknown. No impact to operations.

Incident at 25NM THE PAS MB (CYQD)

A Keewatin Air Beech 200 (KEW202) from The Pas, MB (CYQD) to Dauphin, MB (CYDN) was observed on radar climbing through A150 without clearance. When queried by the Winnipeg area control centre (ACC) controller, the pilot apologized for the error. The Winnipeg ACC controller cleared KEW202 to A170. No impact to operations.

Incident at MEDICINE HAT AB (CYXH)

The initial call for departure advisory for a Super T Aviation Cessna 172N (C-GYKX) from Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH) to Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH) was when the aircraft was on Taxiway A. The instructor indicated they had radio issues and would talk to student about procedures. No impact on operations.

An Air Canada Airbus BD-500-1A11 (C-GJYA/ACA166) from Edmonton Intl, AB (CYEG) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) reported a possible bird strike on departure. Runway inspection found no remains. No impact to operations.

Incident at FLIN FLON / BAKERS NARROWS MB (Water) (CFF8)

A privately registered Cessna 180 inbound to Flin Flon/Bakers Narrows, MB (Water) (CFF8) had a radio failure and did not call down. The aircraft called Flin Flon, MB (CYFO) to confirm they were down at CFF8.

Incident at HIGH PRAIRIE AB (CZHP) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown, ATM - inaccurate aeronautical information)

The aerodrome maintainer from High Prairie, AB (CZHP) requested a NOTAM be issued for the closing of Runway 07/25 for construction. The NOTAM was issued that Runway 07/25 at High River, AB (CEN4) was closed. The error was discovered when the maintainer called to report that an aircraft had landed on the closed runway.

Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

A WestJet flight dispatch called the Calgary, AB (CYYC) tower and advised that one of their pilots found remnants of a small bird on the landing gear during their walk around at Gate 22. Dispatch says it may have been from a flight that landed 4 hours earlier from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) at 2306Z. After radar review, the flight was a WestJet Boeing 737-7CT (C-FEWJ/WJA126) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Calgary, AB (CYYC).

Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

An Air Canada Bombardier BD-500-1A11 (ACA2091) from New York/La Guardia, NY (KLGA) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) initiated an overshoot Runway 24R due to an unstable approach. The aircraft returned and landed safely at 1633Z. No impact to operations.

Incident at LANGLEY REGIONAL BC (CYNJ)

At Langley, BC (CYNJ), a strong emergency locator transmitter (ELT) signal was heard from 1659Z to 1702Z. Short bursts between 3-15 seconds was heard intermittently from 1703Z until 1712Z. The shift manager and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Victoria was advised. No operational impact.

A strong emergency locator transmitter (ELT) started at 2336Z and ended approximately 1 minute later. Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Victoria was notified.

Incident at NANAIMO AIRPORT (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)

Nanaimo, BC (CYCD) was provided with a verbal clearance for an Air North Charter & Training Boeing 737-55D (C-GANU/ANT473) from Nanaimo, BC (CYCD) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW) which included a cleared altitude of 3000 feet. The readback of the altitude was 6000 feet and the controller did not identify the error. No operational impact.

Incident at VAL-D'OR QC (CYVO)

A strong and clear emergency locator transmitter (ELT) signal was heard at 1914Z for 1 minute. A Les Machines Roger Ltée. Cessna A185F (C-GMIR) flying in the area advised that it was not their signal. Area control centre (ACC) and Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton advised.

Incident at LA GRANDE RIVIÈRE QC (CYGL)

An Air Inuit de Havilland DHC-8-314 (C-FAID/AIE865) from La Grande Riviere, QC (CYGL) to Kangiqsujuaq (Wakeham Bay), QC (CYKG) aborted take-off for an unknown reason and left the runway without problem. No impact on operations.

Incident at 10NM BRANDON MUNI MB (CYBR)

A privately registered Cessna 172M from Treherne, MB (CKU2) to Brandon Muni, MB (CYBR) was unable to establish initial communication and squawked 7600. Communication established prior to entering control zone. No impact to operations.

Incident at 5010n / 11604w

The pilot of an Air India Ltd. Boeing 737 200 (AIC174) from San Francisco, CA (KSFO) to Delhi/Indira Gandhi, India (VIDP) checked in at FL300 and was given clearance to direct heading to 5900N/11000W and climb to FL310. Shortly after the pilot called saying they were able to climb to FL310. The controller queried and gave instruction to climb to FL310 again. AIC174 was observed still flying same heading and was asked if they were turning to head to 59N/110W, to which the pilot responded negative. AIC174 was advised that they were given clearance to head to 59N/110W and the pilot acknowledged and turned to fly the correct heading. No impact to operations.

Incident at 0.75NM N ABBOTSFORD BC (CYXX)

A small black drone was observed at 0.75NM North of Abbotsford, BC (CYXX), in close proximity to a Cessna 172. No operational impact.

Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

A Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GGOY/JZA8862) from Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ) to Gander, NL (CYQX) returned to CYHZ with a mechanical issue. No assistance was required. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) unit was advised and on standby for the aircrafts landing. JZA8862 landed safely at 1523Z with no impact on operations.

Incident at RED DEER REGIONAL AB (CYQF) (FOD (foreign object debris))

An aircraft reported a deceased coyote approximately 1800ft from the threshold of Runway 17 on the centreline. No reports of any collisions with animals. One aircraft in the circuit was asked to orbit while vehicle (Airports) removed the animal.

Accident at PRINCE GEORGE BC (CYXS) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

The pilot of a privately registered American Aviation AA-1 from Prince George, BC (CYXS) to Prince George, BC (CYXS) in the circuit requested a simulated engine out landing on Runway 24 at 1558Z. The pilot then requested a runway change to Runway 19 which was approved with the simulated procedure. At approximately 1600Z, the aircraft made contact with the runway, bounced, and flipped onto its roof. There were numerous delays to aircraft.

Incident at REGINA INTL SK (CYQR) (Bird presence, FOD (foreign object debris))

A Westjet Boeing 737-8CT (C-FKWJ/WJA297) from Regina, SK (CYQR) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) reported a flock of seagulls near the end of Runway 13. WJA297 did not believe they struck any of them, but 2 carcasses were found during a field check shortly after. Winnipeg center was advised. No impact on operations.

Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

A WestJet Boeing 737-7CT (C-GSWJ/WJA669) from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) to Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) reported a possible bird strike after landing on Runway 17L. Vehicle (Airport 1) conducted a runway inspection and found nothing. No impact to operations.

Incident at GRANDE PRAIRIE AB (CYQU)

A Synergy Aviation Ltd. Guimbal Cabri G2 (C-GUBA) from Grande Prairie, AB (CYQU) to Grande Prairie, AB (CYQU) called at 1818Z and advised that it would be returning to the airport due to a possible radio issue. The aircraft was given advisory and traffic and responded. C-GUBA then entered the control zone and began squawking 7600. The flight landed without incident at 1822Z. A Cessna in the circuit for Runway 30 extended to accommodate. Minimal impact on operations.

Field maintenance advised and inspected the runway with no remains found. No impact to operations.

A Keewatin Air Beech 200 (KEW216) from Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson Intl, MB (CYWG) advised the controller that they were experiencing control issues and would need to deviate to Thompson, MB (CYTH). The pilot requested the emergency vehicles to be called out after declaring an emergency. The aircraft landed without incident at 1610Z.

A Jazz Bombardier CL-600-2D24 (C-FCJZ/JZA7944) from Regina Intl, SK (CYQR) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) levelled off at FL240 while deviating for weather and declared a PAN PAN due to icing. After deviating and remaining clear of cloud, the aircraft was able to resume on course at 1506Z.
