A privately registered American Aviation AA-5A from Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) to Ottawa/Gatineau, QC (CYND) reported a laser strike on short final (FNL) for Runway 09, coming from the south. Police and Area Control Centre (ACC) advised. No impact on operations.

Incident at LONDON FIC / FIC DE LONDON (ATM - inaccurate aeronautical information)

The St. Catharines/Niagara District, ON (CYSN) remote communications outlet (RCO) frequency 126.7 MHz cannot be muted at positions 7, 10 and 13 (all evening shift positions). Also, the volume is still too high. The Technology Operations Coordinator (TOC) was advised. Operational impact: due to the volume of aircraft broadcasting enroute position reports on this frequency, the high volume level and inability to mute are causing other frequencies to be blocked, resulting in missed calls and numerous requests to repeat transmissions.

A Perimeter Aviation de Havilland DHC-8-106 (C-GRGI/PAG401) from Gods River, MB (CZGI) to Thompson, MB (CYTH) reported hitting two small birds on the approach. The remains of one snow bunting was found during a field check.

Incident at WINDSOR ON (CYQG)

A privately registered Aero Commander 112TCA, on a flight from Windsor, ON (CYQG), returned to the airport due to a landing gear indication. The aircraft conducted a low approach and the gear did not appear to be "down" (i.e. lowered). The pilot advised lowering the gear manually and conducted a second low approach, where the gear did appear to be down. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) unit was placed on standby. The aircraft landed safely at 1346Z. No other impact to operations.

Incident at TORONTO / BILLY BISHOP TORONTO CITY AIRPORT ON (CYTZ)

A Brampton Flying Club Cessna 172P (C-GOZD) from Brampton-Caledon, ON (CNC3) to Brampton-Caledon, ON (CNC3) was instructed twice to orbit outside the control zone due to volume. C-GOZD continued into the control zone without clearance. C-GOZD was then instructed to make a right turn, heading back Westbound, in order to clear the zone. C-GOZD made a left turn, Eastbound.

Incident at TOFINO / LONG BEACH BC (CYAZ) (FOD (foreign object debris))

A Pacific Coastal Airlines Limited Beech 1900 (PCO1610) from Tofino/Long Beach, BC (CYAZ) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR) reported seeing two deceased seagulls on the threshold of Runway 11. No previous reports of a bird strike had been received. Airport staff were advised. No operational impact.

A WestJet Encore Ltd. Bombardier DHC-8-402 (C-GWJK/WEN3181) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Kelowna, BC (CYLW), on approach for Runway 34, reported in the missed approach due to wind shear. WEN3181 landed on Runway 16 at 1735Z without incident.

Incident at 90NM ISLAND LAKE MB (CYIV)

A Perimeter Aviation de Havilland DHC-8-101 (PAG107) from Island Lake, MB (CYIV) to Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson, MB (CYWG) reported an onboard passenger medical issue while enroute to CYWG and elected to return to CYIV. Aircraft landed without incident or impact to operations at 2021Z.

Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

At Fredericton, NB (CYFC), the emergency locator transmitter (ELT) of a privately registered Cessna 182L was activated for testing purposes at 2000Z and could not be shut off until 2010Z. No operational impact. Non-routine event (NRE) due to ELT activation during test time and awareness of issues involved in shutting it down.

An Air Canada Airbus A321-211 (ACA1420) from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Varadero, Cuba (MUVR) advised air traffic control (ATC) of a possible bird strike upon departure from Runway 33L. No bird remains were found on the runway during the inspection. No other aircraft impacted.

Incident at KINGSTON ON (CYGK)

A privately registered Cirrus SR22 departed from Runway 01 at Kingston, ON (CYGK) on an IFR flight plan to Burlington, ON (CZBA). During the climb-out phase of flight, the pilot informed the Kingston (YGK) flight service station (FSS) that they needed to return due to an aircraft door issue. The YGK FSS notified the Montreal (YUL) area control centre (ACC) and received an arrival clearance. Aircraft landed without incident. Slight impact to operations as a Cessna 172 was inbound, VFR, and was asked to orbit to allow the Cirrus SR22 to land first.

The Perimeter desk, located at the airport, was contacted, and they were able to see the aircraft on the main apron at 2051Z. No operational impact.

At Red Deer, AB (CYQF), cameras 3, 4, 5 and 7 were unserviceable (U/S). Due to the camera failures, Runway 17/35 was not visible north of Taxiway A. Clearances were not available to Runway 17/35.

Incident at HAMILTON ON (CYHM)

The pilot of a Cargojet Airways Ltd. Boeing 757-200 (CJT910) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Hamilton, ON (CYHM) initiated a missed approach for Runway 12 due to a flap issue. Issue was resolved and the aircraft landed without incident, at 0529Z, on Runway 12. No further impact on operations.

Incident at FORT ST. JOHN BC (CYXJ)

A Double L Enterprises Ltd. Cessna 172I (C-FXEB) was conducting circuits (CCTS) on Runway 12 at Fort St. John, BC (CYXJ). A Wuthrich Ventures Ltd. Piper PA-31 (C-GELD) from Grande Prairie, AB (CYQU) to Fort St. John, BC (CYXJ) was inbound from the southeast (SE) for the left downwind (LDW) of Runway 12. Once airborne off of Runway 12, C-FXEB turned an abbreviated CCT, just after the intersection, while C-GELD was in the downwind. The specialist asked C-FXEB to confirm that they had C-GELD traffic in sight. After this was unsuccessful, the specialist asked C-GELD to climb. C-FXEB made an immediate right turn. C-GELD landed safely at 0033Z.
