Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

After landing on Runway 05 an Air Canada Embraer ERJ 190-100 IGW (C-FNAW/ACA1130) from Saskatoon/John G. Diefenbaker, SK (CYXE) to Toronto/Lester. B Pearson, ON (CYYZ) reported they had experienced "a little bit of wake" on short final. Preceding aircraft was a WestJet Boeing 767-338 (C-FWAD/WJA2581) from Cancun, Mexico (MMUN) to Toronto/Lester. B Pearson, ON (CYYZ). Wake Turbulence Re-categorization (RECAT). Wake separation was maintained on final. No impact on operations.

Incident at THUNDER BAY ON (CYQT)

A Thunder Airlines Beech A100 (C-GUPP/THU106) from Thunder Bay, ON (CYQT) to Thunder Bay, ON (CYQT) departing CYQT reported a landing gear indication on initial contact with the IFR controller and requested to return to CYQT. No emergency declared, the aircraft landed safely at 1336Z. Approach clearance for a Morningstar Air Cessna 208 (MAL8060) from Winnipeg, MB (CYWG) to Thunder Bay, ON (CYQT) was delayed by 5 minutes. No other impact to operations.

Incident at VANCOUVER INTL BC (CYVR) (Incursion - manoeuvring area, Communication error)

A Skylink Express Cessna 208B (C-FHGA/SLQ520) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Victoria, BC (CYYJ) was taxiing westbound on Taxiway D for departure and had to come to an abrupt stop due to a vehicle (OPS23) exiting Runway 08R on Taxiway E and approaching D. OPS23 was a free range vehicle on the field.

Incident at 7NM WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)

A Perimeter Aviation Swearingen SA226-TC (C-FBTL/PAG11) from Red Sucker Lake, MB (CYRS) to Winnipeg/Richardson, MB (CYWG), on area navigation (RNAV) approach for Runway 18, reported a receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (RAIM) failure at 7NM and requested vectors for instrument landing system (ILS) for Runway 13. Aircraft landed safely at 1821Z, no impact to operations.

Incident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)

Gander (QX) Area Control Centre (ACC) Low Domestic advised Gander (YQX) Tower that an Emirates Airbus A380-800 (A6EON/UAE8ER) on a flight from Dubai, UAE (OMDB) to New York/John F. Kennedy, NY (KJFK) was diverting to Gander Intl, NL (CYQX) due to a medical emergency on board. The aircraft landed safely at 1050Z. Ambulance at airport on standby when aircraft landed.

Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT) (Aerodrome - runway or taxiway surface condition, Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

A tractor involved in snow clearing became stuck on the threshold of Runway 29 with a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GGAH/JZA8990) on a flight from Halifax/Stanfield Intl, NS (CYHZ) to St. Johns Intl, NL (CYYT) on approach. Runway 29 was active and the only available runway, as 16/34 was closed for maintenance and 02/20 was closed for snow. The vehicle was pulled out sooner than they had expected, but not before the inbound aircraft had been extended roughly 10 miles. There was only one impacted aircraft, which was delayed 4-5 minutes.

On final approach to Runway 20, a Jazz Bombardier DHC-8-402 (C-GVJZ/JZA8513) on a flight from Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson Intl, MB (CYWG) to Edmonton Intl, AB (CYEG) initiated a go-around due to a nose wheel landing gear indication. The aircraft returned to land safely Runway 20 and did not require assistance. No impact to operations.

The Extended Computer Display System (EXCDS), EXCDS weather data entry (WDE) and the NAV CANADA Auxiliary Radar Display System (NARDS) showed a red alarm at 0803Z. Advised technical operations coordinator (TOC). Flight Service Station Information Management System (FIMS) server 1 and 2 alarm, advised TOC. TOC looking into NWTEL issue. TOC advised NWTEL has an issue and are conducting repairs.

A Delta Air Lines Boeing 737-900 (N821DN/DAL1957) on a flight from Seattle/Tacoma Intl, WA (KSEA) to Anchorage, AK (PANC) reported observing a stream of bright lights, approximately 30 in a row, perfectly spaced and moving from West to East. An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900 (N478AS/ASA84) on a flight from Anchorage, AK (PANC) to Seattle/Tacoma Intl, WA (KSEA) and an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900 (N462AS/ASA103) on a flight from Seattle/Tacoma Intl, WA (KSEA) to Fairbanks, AK (PAFA) subsequently reported seeing the same.

At 1804Z, an emergency locator transmitter (ELT) signal went off for approximately 20 seconds. Rangeland called to inform the flight service station (FSS) that it was a Super T Aviation Cessna 172P (C-GGAD) from Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH) to Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH). Air Traffic Operations Specialist (ATOS) was advised.

A privately registered Cessna R182 from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH) rejected its takeoff from Runway 17R due to a nose wheel steering vibration. No operational impact. Aircraft taxied back to the hangar.

A North Cariboo Flying Service de Havilland DHC-8-301 (NCB2807) on a flight from Christina Lake, AB (CCL3) to Edmonton Intl, AB (CYEG) was cleared for an approach via the OBSUK transition. NCB2807 was observed turning the wrong direction at OBSUK. The pilot advised air traffic control (ATC) that they had an issue with their flight management system (FMS) system and requested a visual approach. No impact to operations.

Pearson, ON (CYYZ) reported an equipment issue that prevented the aircraft from maintaining assigned altitude and requested a block altitude. Reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM) status was revoked and block altitude assigned. No impact to operations.

JZA8195 landed safely at 0015Z, no impact to operations.

At time 2202Z and just west of 50N050W, a British Airways Boeing 787-9 (GZBKD/BAW293) on a flight from Heathrow/London Intl, UK (EGLL) to Washington/Dulles, VA (KIAD) declared a PAN PAN due to a pressurization issue and requested descent from FL410 to FL350. The flight was recleared to FL340. BAW293 reported the situation good at FL340 and PAN PAN cancelled at 2215Z. Flight continued to its destination and exited the Gander Intl, NL (CYQX) flight information region (FIR) at 2248Z.

Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

The tower instructed a Sky Regional Airlines Embraer ERJ 170-200 SU (SKV7612) on a flight from Chicago/OHare Intl, IL (KORD) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) to conduct an missed approach Runway 23. The preceding arrival, a Northern Air Charter Beech 200 (NLI134) was still on the runway and unable to exit H3 due to another arrival, a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-301 (JZA8326) stopped on H3 with an indication and unable to move and a departure still in position.

Incident at 5055N / 11322W

A Can-West Corporate Air Charters Ltd. Beech 200 (CWA924) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH) was observed to descend to 10 000 feet when assigned altitude of 12 000 feet was given. No impact on operations.

Incident at BASRA intersection (ATS operating irregularity)

On initial contact, a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (JZA8190) from Vancouver, BC (CYVR) to Kamloops, BC (CYKA) departing CYVR was cleared to 16 000 feet and vectored northbound. This put the aircraft in conflict with two inbound aircraft on the standard terminal arrival (STAR) descending to 10 000 feet: an Air Canada Airbus A319 (ACA233) from Edmonton, AB (CYEG) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR), and a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-402 (JZA8189) from Kamloops, BC (CYKA) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR). The aircraft queried the controller about the clearance after the controller passed traffic to the aircraft. The controller re-cleared the departure to 9 000 feet. No impact to operations.

Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

The pilot of a WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (WEN3146) on a flight from Fort McMurray, AB (CYMM) to Calgary Intl, AB (CYYC) initiated a go-around for Runway 35L due to being too heavy. No operational impact.

Incident at GRANDE PRAIRIE AB (CYQU) (Incursion - runway - vehicle)

While an Adventure Aviation Cessna 172S (C-GHOU) on a flight from Grande Prairie, AB (CYQU) to Grande Prairie, AB (CYQU) was conducting a touch and go, a truck (TK82) began to cross the active runway after reporting holding short of said runway. The truck turned around quickly once called.

Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)

A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (C-GWEU/WEN3156) on a flight from Vancouver Intl, BC (CYVR) to Edmonton Intl, AB (CYEG) exited Runway 02 at B1 after landing and reported having a nose gear steering indication. WEN3156 went on a contaminated taxiway due to the indication, and the airport was experiencing snow at the time (ME 1700 33007 1 1/2SM -SHSN VV013). WEN3156 managed to taxi to the gate from B1 at 1725Z. Additional arrival spacing was needed for a time, otherwise no impact on operations.

A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-402 (WEN3237) on a flight from Regina Intl, SK (CYQR) to Edmonton Intl, AB (CYEG) was issued taxi instructions from B1 to the main apron via Bravo and Victor. The pilot turned the wrong direction on Bravo. No impact to operations.

Incident at HIGH LEVEL AB (CYOJ)

An Airborne Energy Solutions Cessna 172S (C-GAEN) on a flight from Edmonton/Villeneuve, AB (CZVL) to High Level, AB (CYOJ) landed Runway 13 at CYOJ at 0152Z. Reported visibility was 3/4SM. When advised of visibility and pressed for intentions, the pilot indicated they were inbound and fuel critical. When asked if they were declaring an emergency the pilot responded they were not. C-GAEN landed without incident. No impact to operations.
